Could Martin signal the end of J Long?

Unless you are a family member?
But i agree if i was going to buy a jersey it would be a QB or RB or something like that.

1.) The Dolphins WON THE DIVISION AND A PLAYOFF GAME in 2008 with Chad 'old-hurt-rag arm' Pennington at QB! The next year WITH LONG and WITHOUT Pennington..well...look it up if I have to tell ya.
2.) The Falcons had not had back to back winning seasons in their history, even with Vick in his prime, until Ryan came along. Now they are working on their FIFTH in a row!
Please stop with the 'Draft MORE Linemen to achieve nirvana' crap. It was tried for almost 10 years and it FAILED! Get over it. Look in the mirror and repeat after me: "This is the NFL in 2012. It's The QB Stupid!"

I believe WE remember Dilfer as a crappy QB because Baltimore had very little confidence in him (as they proved by letting him go soon after they won the Superbowl). Baltimore thought they could to better with Elvis Grbac, and it backfired. If you look at Dilfer's career, he's won games with a number of teams. I always liked his leadership and competitive spirit, which I think was overshadowed by his physical limitations.
When all is said and done, Dilfer won more Superbowls than a number of HoF QBs (Marino, Fouts, Moon). You can't take that away from him.

Factually speaking, I started this post with no media influence whatsoever. Even though Ireland denies it, IMO it can still happen, hope it don't, but it's still possible.
> This isn't about NOT drafting a quarterback! It's about our stupid management NOT DRAFTING MARTIN TO HELP LONG but about the damn fools drafting him to REPLACE Long.
Don't buy into the hype, our mgmt isn't doing this. It's just the supposition of dolphaholic and a few of the media trying to get a rise out of the FO cause a deal isn't signed yet.
Ireland vehemently denied that Martin was drafted for this reason, and said Long will be around for a long time (scuse the pun).
- Hoping to see us build a keep solid line like Stephenson, webb and simms and the Miami days of the glory years. Takes a team.
Gotcha Cheyren, Ahh, sorry couldn't relate what the reference was, as it followed mine.
Still want to underscore that I'd like to see the coaching staff and FO keep a steady line that has worked together for a while. Makes a big difference if the OL has chemistry & familiarity.
I agree with you guys. We have the beginnings of a very good offensive line. We will get a good look at how Incognito, Jerry, Murtha, and Garner look at G and I expect us to draft or sign a few OG that fit Philbin's specs next offseason.
I hear you dolphaholic ... the major difference I see in us and Pittsburg is:
1. You have to have a pretty solid bunch to employe the reload with younger guys for cheaper. We are way off that mark.
2. you have to be able to develop and actually improve talent to do what they do with linebackers etc in Pittsburg ... I hope we are getting that kind of coaching, but I sure didn't see it happen with Sparano.
- We spent big bucks on lineman and couldn't retain them, thus never had any line chemistry.
3. With the turnover the phins have had in coaching, we need badly to retain the elite talent we have to build a nucleus around.
- I hope we can retain and devlope much better here, that keeps people interested in sticking around too.
I don't miss your point, just don't think we are talent rich enough to live in that space just now. And when it comes to OL, the dependencies for keeping a core nucleus and work together is even more valuable.

All these points are why I said I "envied" those other teams, hopefully we're on our way.
