Al Groh signed with Georgia Tech to be their defensive coordinator.

Keith Butler is staying in Pittsburgh

Mike Zimmer is staying in Cincy. Romeo signed with KC

Looks like Todd Bowlws is the new front runner to be the defensive coordinator.

Jets linebackers coach Bob Sutton might also be a darkhorse candidate according to reports

Sutton might be a good pick-up.

He was hired by Al Groh, so may have ties to the Parcells tree. He knows the 3-4.

I wondered if they were waiting for someone on a team that was still playing.

I hope so...because all of those rejections are making me nervous. What is our rep in the league?

Well the job of Defensive Coordinator for the Miami Dolphins isn't exactly a "destenation job" by any means.

Not to mention its a 3-4 and only 9 NFL teams run a 3-4. And I think only 2 major college teams (Bama and Virginia) run a 3-4. Making the situation just a bit tougher than most defensive coordinator jobs. The pool you are drawing from is smaller.

Plus Sparano is going into Year 3 and will enter 2010 on the hot-seat. Another losing season and he will be toast. So stability isn't something we can offer. Coaches hate up-rooting their family over and over again. And if Miami is gonna be a "1-n-done" stop that isn't attractive. Which is why someone like Groh at his age looks at GT as a job he can retire off of. He probably found that attractive

I believe your evaluation of Sparano is incorrect.

You can believe it if you want, but this is the NFL and unless you have some super bowl rings, not many coaches survive back-to-back losing seasons. In this league if your not getting better, it means you are moving backwards. So another 7-9 or worse season and Sparano will be history
