I dont understand why you would take a college job over a pro job if the are the same position. I can see if he were to get a HC gig in the college ranks that would be a step up but if it is the same position I would take the pro job...

It could be about the time commitment. College coaches usually work less, because they are restricted to a lot less time they can coach the student athletes.
I was looking at it from a similar perspective. I took it as a lack of ambition in taking the "less pressure intensive" job. If that is the case then he is not the guy for us.
Remember, he's getting paid $4M from Virginia, regardless of where he coaches, so money may not be a factor at all. At his age, maybe he feels the college game allows for a better personal lifestyle.
