This is Ricky's first 1000-yard rushing season since 2003. For what it's worth, according to nfl.com, the six-year span is the longest an NFL player has ever gone between 1000-yard rushing seasons.
I agree with aqua... a whole season with ricky and he would set the single season record for fumbles. TO think a cat can win a heisman, lead the league in rushing one or two years and still be this fumble prone. I personally hold my breath every time he carries the ball. He has had fumble problems his entire career. He is a very dangerous back and has ALL the physical tools to be great but he has to secure the football.
I personally think that we would be a better team if hillard was the featured back and had 12-18 carries and ricky had what he was usually getting. He does not want to be THE GUY let him play the background were he is most dangerous (and is less chance to fumble)

One of the reasons Ricky gave for his "hiatus" from the game was that Wannstedt overworked him. Which was true. Ricky just became the 7th player to run for 1000 yards at age 32 or older. The track record of the other 6 is not very good. It's silly for us to count on much from Ricky in 2010. He needs to go back to being a 10-15 touches per game guy.
I agree about getting Ricky back to the change-up position. He isn't happy carrying the total load. He'll end up cheefing the reefer again. I was disappointed that Hilliard didn't carry 10-15 times. The guy is a 4-5 yard machine.
Yeah but the problem is he had 4 fumbles in only two games. I dont know if you realize this but 4 fumbles over an entire season is a lot for a running back.
I good running back should only have 2-3 fumbles per season, not 4 in two games. At that pace he would have 32 for the season!!! Now that would not only be an NFL record but probably a Guinness world record...
The fact that he's only lost 2 is irrelevant. Losing a fumble is the luck of the bounce. The bottom line is that he has 4 fumbles in the last 2 games. A lesser player would be benched for that kind of performance. And Ricky had 5 fumbles last year. Fumbling has always been a problem for him.
You people are jumping on the fumble bandwagon a little fast. I do believe ricky likes the backup role better and we need to take some pressure off him and give Lex the ball a little more!
