It didn't affect the final results but it could have. If Vontae hadn't intercepted that ball in the endzone and N.E. scores a TD, they're up 9 points (two scores) because we failed a 2 point try on our previouse TD. Am I the only one who disagree's with Sparano's decision?
There's still over 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. Why would you go to "the chart" so early in the second half? Flat out BAD DECISION in my opinion and could've cost us the game!
I like what Sparano's done with this team but I have to question some of the decision's he makes at critical times during games.
No offense but anybody here with half a brain can Monday Morning Quarterback the crap out of any game and say "this was a good call, bad call, etc" for each play.
You have NO idea what is going through Sparano's head or how he planned on executing even the next play, let alone the rest of the game...
In all honesty, you're really only one step away from saying, "well on that 2 yard run, we should have thrown because we only got 2 yards."
We won...against New England...how are you not thrilled?
From my point of view, all I'm saying is that when decisions like these are made we don't really know what is going on...but the coaching staff does, and it is very easy for us to say "we should have done this" in hindsight.
Anyway, I'm looking for my chill pills, because I guess I didn't really get where YOU were coming from.

And what I meant by this is I feel like we, the media, etc get so carried away with judging calls in hindsight, that sooner or later we'll be questioning each play call that doesn't generate a TD.
I agree GBO it was a stupid call and I was screaming at the TV for them to kick the extra point when Sparano first told them to go for two...it was a bad call then and it remains so despite what the coach may have been thinking.
IMHO, the only times you go for two are; if you have to in order to outright win the game, or to preserve a greater than one score lead inside of the last three minutes of the game.
Other than those you ALWAYS kick the extra point.

I can't stand Phil Simms and hate that I have to side with him.
Before they scored, I told my wife that if we did score a TD and go for two, she'd better cover her ears because there's going to be some pretty major expletives hurled at the TV!!!
Like Ken said, you DON'T go for two unless you HAVE to, and with over 5 minutes in the 3rd quarter, you don't have to.
I liked the call. I thought it gave him more options for how the game could play out. If we make it, it's tied and no more scoring in regulation = OT. If we don't, then it could have played out like it did...us only needing a FG to win which would have been the case if we had just kicked 1. But, if we make 1 and they score, then we HAVE to score a TD and get 2 just to tie and send to OT.
I liked that Sparano showed confidence in the offense and let them know it. I like the message that it sends Henne and, I especially like that it didn't come back to bite us. I checked out a patriots message board earlier and those boneheads are crucifying their coaches and team for their failed fourth down conversion attempts instead of going for the field goal . It could have turned out very differently but, , it didn't.
I think it was a good call. Despite the outcome and 2 turnovers, you have to give the Pats respect for potential to come down and score a TD. or at one point a field goal would have done it.
If they had scored, and we had made the 2 pt conversion would have given us a tie and a chance to win in OT in several scenarios.
Like I always say, if you don't HAVE to go for 2, then don't. I didn't like the decision during the game either. Go for 1, extend the game. When you start going for 2 before you have to and miss it, you end the game early.
I think you should always kick unless there is no choice. You could argue NE lost the game because they didn't kick the ball!!!
