I don't think 9-7 gets us into the play-offs. We are close to the point where this season becomes early training camp for next year.
Our WR play has been so poor and inconsistent that I doubt there would be 1 starting line-up that is clearly better based on their play. SO....I say play guys who have the potential to develop into role guys.
IMO we have no #1. That guy has to be added to the roster.
At Possession WR/slot we have Bess, Camarillo, and Ginn ( possible Hartline.
The #2 WR needs to be someone who has enough speed to get downfield, and enough size to play the sidelines on jump balls, quick outs, etc.
I think Hartline and Turner are the only 2 guys on the roster who could develop into solid #2 guys.
SO...I say we start Hartline at the #2 spot with a few rest snaps with Turner in there.
We rotate Camarillo and Ginn at the #1 spot ( because someone has to be there)
And we rotate Bess and Camarillo at slot.
That gives Cam a chance to work as the #1 and to develop the slot patterns, it gives Hartline the chance to develop into the #2 guy, and it makes use of Ginn's speed, and Camarillo's overall ability.
I don't think that this will necessarily benefit us THIS season; however, once we have a true #1...I think it makes it easier and quicker for the whole group to start clicking.
I don't recall Turner being a speedy WR. I don't think he fits your #2. So many people are hanging their hat on Turner on the board, but there's got to be a reason why he hasn't seen the field yet.
It's unpopular, but I'd like to see Pat White put into the mix at WR.
Speedy is great when or if you catch the ball. The secret to being a WR is catching the ball. Our coach says it has to do with the guys we need for special teams. Makes a little sense, but watching Ginn on special teams is sweet! Watching him on offense is awful! We drafted Turner in the third round he is our biggest reciever, lets see if he can play!
The idea of 'seeing whatcha got' isn't a bad one, in my opinion. However, I wouldn't want Sparano to do that to the detriment of winning games now. We are not eliminated...far from it.
We have a decent chance of winning our next 3 in a row. If we do that and are at 6-5, we are in the playoff mix. The Jets are likely to go 2-1 (losing to NE), so we'd be tied at 6-5 with them. NE has Indy, NYJ and NO in their next 3, and I think they have a good shot of only going 1-2, so sitting at 7-4. We'd head into our game in Miami against NE one game out. A win, and we're tied for the division lead and have the division tie-breaker.
However, if winning the division is all but impossible and the 2 WC spots seem wrapped up after the NE game, then I can see Sparano using the gametime that way.

--------------- good one.
There's a couple really good young receivers in the draft that may still be available for our mid round selection....IMO DEZ BRYANT and LaFELL in round 1 and GOLDEN TATE in the 2nd. Tate is only 5'11 but has shown ability to actually catch the ball and make his QB look good.
I'd like to see a FA WR signed this offseason too.
Some of the bigger names on that list depend on what happens with the CBA. If next year is an uncapped year, and it looks that way, then it adds an additional 2 years of service time before being a free agent. So you can cross off Edwards, Jackson, Marshall, Breaston, Avant, etc. It would also mean teams would get 3 franchise tags, allowing them to keep more players off the market.
