History has shown that we struggle against high powered offenses:

1) Last year Arizona----we got killed
2) Atlanta and Matt Ryan ---- We got manhandled
3)Indy and Peyton ----- we got dissected
4) San Diego and Rivers ----- We got beat

I think we are in for a looooooooong day against the Saints UNLESS we put pressure on Brees.

If he has time to throw we are done.....


Unfortunately, I have to agree with others who have posted earlier, that our BEST shot at this game is to control the CLOCK.
We need to be physical and HIT Brees in order to cause him to make mistakes....

I think their DEFENCE will be exploited and we'll get some pressure on Brees.

Hopefully it's a HOT and STICKY day this weekend and we just wear them down with our running game!

1. That was a wake-up game for us. We shut down New England (another high-powered offense) the following week.
2. It was a tough game, but manhandled is a strong word. 19-7, and 7 of their points were by the defense. We also put them in good position with turnovers. It wasn't the high-powered offense that got us. It was our mistakes!
3. Uhh..they had 3 good plays and our 2-minute offense stunk. With Henne we might have actually won that game.
4. Yeah, we lost.

Three of those listed were our only 3 losses this year! All 3 games were winable games. We came out of the gate slow with a new center and new players in the secondary. They didn't, truly, start coming together until game 4.

I don't see a trend here.

Hope we win the coin flip.

New Orleans also has a pretty solid defense, but hopefully we can stay ahead of the game like what we tried with Indy. Eat up the clock...pound the rock.

When we go up against the Saints Offense, a series of zone looks with random spot blitzes might be the way to go to stop Brees' short game. There will be lots of work to be done by our DL to get through to Brees and also keep an eye on their running game. Giants didn't show up for yesterdays game, they must of been spoiled by playing the easy game at the Raiders the week before. We won't be caught off guard like they were.


I don't expect us to win this game but a win would be HUGE!

Keys:

- Defensive pass rush
- Win the turnover game - be physical
- Exceptional ball control, but not just a run game now
- Score in the red zone (4 TDs and 1 field goal)

The corners and safeties need to step it up and play like caliber players against this dangerous passer

I hate to say it, but I am hoping for the secondary to do what the pats did to the rams in the super bowl in Jan 2002.

The rams were the big favorite mainly because of thier offense. I think the big reason the pats won that SB was the paly of thier secondary.

The pats secondary made sure they hit the rams receivers hard early and often, catch or no catch. With a decent pass rush and some long draives of our own we could do the same.
