I can't see him being an upgrade over any of our top 4 WR. And I can't see us giving up on Turner so soon. I really doubt we're that interested, but you never know.
For a big, fast target, he's currently unemployed, 5 weeks into the season. That tells you something. He was also not as good a player in Jacksonville as Ernest Wilford. That tells you something, too.
We signed Wilford in hopes of having a big possession target. he didn't work out.
We had London on the roster but Turner looked to be beating him out.
We drafted Turner; however, he hasn't panned out as quickly as they mihgt have hoped.
So......Matt Jones...???
1) they might be seriously thinking...wow we are further along than we thought and we would be at this point. If we can get Henne a chain mover, we can do something THIS year.
2) They might be trying to light a fire under the guys who are currently activated and Turner as well.
3) they might be trying to dive up the price for the competition.
We can see by the Jests game that having Braylon Edwards can help a QB. It is not always about being the fastest, but about the ability to go get the football at its highest point. Too many times a receiver (Ginn) doesn't even go for it when it is out of reach. Having that receiver that can get the ball in traffic or a misplaced (high/low) ball is what we need.
Just think of what Chris Chambers could be doing for us right now! With the running game in control, We need a play maker in the receiver position and I am not saying we don't have it now, but they have to start developing now. Plus, put Ginn in the return game. That is what he is best at.
