Well Truth, your reply to Mizzou was his response to my post; I am the "previous poster." <g>
You will also see that my reply to him is pretty much what you said, except I said "that's the way it is in sports."
I agree with you in that Wake has a contract and should play under it until the time is right to renegotiate. But....if Miami were the only team to do that, Miami would be in serious trouble because, as has been said, NOBODY would want to play for Miami. Because that's not the way it is around the league, then Miami has to do something before Wake's contract expires; it's only fair. BTW, I just read where both Murtha and Merling have signed their new deals, each for 1.?M. Wake is way more valuable than either of these guys, so....
I can't agree with ya that the FO would be destroyed if they let Wake force them into this. It will have to get done, and Miami needs Wake, so they may as well get serious about it and get it done. As I said, that's just the way it is in sports.

The Teams are Good. Ours is not. I don't see their fans organizing Protests and paying good money for Billboards and Planes flying asking for their GM's head. On top of that more then 1 athelete has said on many Ocassions that Irelend is an Asshat. then You get the Bell fiasco 1 week after free agency, and every free agent shunning us and treating us like Red Headed Step children.
When Miami starts winning!!!? PLEASE . SHUT ME THE HELL UP . Hell I'd settle for .500 at this point.

True but at least he's looking for one. His old boss didn't believe in them.
And it's not like the grow on trees. You can go years without getting a legit shot at a franchise qb in the draft and they are rarely available in free agency.
Still, if the basis of your argument against Ireland is that he has t landed a franchise qb in 18 months then you should stop right there. He's already signed two guys that are better than HENNE.
Re: This is where Irelend and the Dolphins Piss me off......
I don't want to argue the merits of whether it was a good or bad thing but we neither got Peyton nor Matt Flynn and I don't see any other of the big free agents coming our way. Maybe you have the inside scoop, Dolph? Maybe your 4 year old does?

Re: This is where Irelend and the Dolphins Piss me off......
There is talk that the salary cap is tight this year and a lot better next.
If that's the case it may be mucking up the situation until after draft and other signings this year.
Win-win might be to settle on a deal now, with lower pay this year and escalates later ... but it is rare to not show an up front big raise.
I think wake is making a mistake and making it personal is a bad point of view. He'll get the money, and he could benefit from getting into the new schemes as early as possible.

I knew you would get it Chyrene.
Re: This is where Irelend and the Dolphins Piss me off......
Wake would get dick from me as long as he was not reporting...if I'm in charge no workouts or training of any kind would be voluntary. I know that you can't discipline a player of fine them for not attending voluntary workouts but other things can be done. Wake, and every player for that matter, would be at all workouts or there would be consequences for them.
The marching orders would be, "you will attend everything as a member of this team." That would be non-negotiable...legitimate emergencies and prior approved issues aside.
If You don't work, or hold out...you'd be riding the bench...or worse. Rgardless of your salary, production, tenure, pro-bowl appearences, or standing with the team.
Contracts would not be re-negotiated early...unless it benefited the team's salary cap situation to do so. However, players that were out-performing thier contracts, would be looked at on a case by case basis.
Wake would be firmly in that catagory, but he'd have to comply with the stated marching orders to have his greivance considered.
Also, loyal players that did the team favors with respect to the salary cap would also be considered for what would be called "appreciation bonuses" would be looked at as well.
Hard work, loyalty, and being a team player would get you taken care of fairly...being selfish, and demanding, would be you screwed.

All reports are he was last year and it got him squat. That seems to be the Stigma surrounding the team and free agents as well. This was a chance to prove that wrong. Guess not.

Where are you, Mizzou? Haven't seen a post from you on this subject for quite a while. Myself and others have replied to you, but have received no answer back.
