Draft Trade down scenario

I believe that our position in the draft is ideal for a trade down. Get our players of need and add an extra selection.

Of course, there are a couple of players that could fall to #25 that we should grab if still available.

Trading down a couple of spots should allow us to select Darius Butler, CB from UConn. And then we would have a shot at OLB/TE Connor Barwin
from Cincinnati in the second round.

Butler would bring us a real quick guy that can close the zones and Barwin would bring size and athletism to the strong side LB spot...as well as the ability to play on offense.

Who would have thought that UConn would be such a college football powerhouse? They've been known for basketball for so long, makes me wonder if we should start looking at Georgetown, Indiana, Kentucky, etc. for football prospects.

problem with trading down is there needs to be someone who really wants a player at 25 enough to trade up for. The only way I see that happening is if one of the top rated WR or OL falls--and we decide we really don't want a WR in the first.

Don't be surprised if we execute our #25 pick then trade him the same day. So, rather than trading the pick, we may just trade the player we pick instead.

that barely ever happens in the nfl. only time I can think that ever happens is when the player refuses to play in the team that picked him (Elway, Eli Manning). so I don't expect us to pick someone in the 1st round and then trade him.
