If you *really* want to see a disparity look at their comparative QB ratings over the past three games. Favre's numbers are heading South as the season goes on.
Here’s what I can’t understand – why is Pennington so much better with us this year than he was the previous 3 with the Jets? In 2002-2004, he had a string of better-than-decent seasons. 2005-2007, a three-year dip in his numbers relative to his first three and this season. Frankly, I was worried that we were getting the Pennington who was still accurate but averaged 6.? YPA and 1:1 TD/Int ratio. The completion percentage is well above what we have experienced in recent years and his leadership (though I underestimated it initially) was certainly better than we’d seen at the position in a long time. But the yards and TD/Int ratio was nothing special. This year, he is near career best in just about every category. My guess is that there are probably a number of reasons. But, the top one in my mind is that the staff has shown incredible faith in him and (my guess here) probably involves him intimately in offensive game-planning.
Good coaching and well designed plays are a huge factor for Pennington. The TEs, WRs, RBs and the QB are not forced to improvise in this offense. Pennington makes his reads and delivers the ball to the open receiver, and someone is usually open. It's a formula that has worked for the Pats for years. The receivers have to run the correct routes and the QB has to make the correct read and deliver the ball. He rarely holds the ball just trying to make something happen. QBs that do that usually end up with a lot of turnovers.

I'm guessing that he's also more healthy this year than since before his first shoulder injury years ago.

My guess would be weather conditions. in NY he had to battle winds and bad weather. If you dont have a strong arm your ball is going to sail on you. Here in the topics of miami he is guarented at least 8 favorable weather games and of the road 8 i am sure that no more that 3 would be in unfavorable (windy) weather.

He played great last week in the cold and wind in Kansas City. I think he is as good, or better, in bad weather as anyone.
jc....i think you're right. I was reading where he has a personal trainer now( i think a college buddy) and he says he was healthier and his arm felt stronger at the beginning of this year then in the past three years. I know he doesn't have a cannon but he certainly has all the tools necessary to be a top notch qb in the league. And I think a Dolphin for several more productive years. By the way, I absolutely can't wait for sunday.
