First I want to say it has been a GREATT year to be a Phins fan, but the book is closed on this year and it's time to start thinking about next year. That said, I want to know what you think. What is the most impotant things for us to do to improve next year.
The biggest needs I saw today were O line and pass rush. We had no holes for our RBs and generated no pass rush. I think the O line will improve with the return of Smiley and Thomas. That said, I think our biggest need that we have is to improve our pass rush. We just haven't been getting to the QB quick enough.

Enough? We didn't get there at all! He could have set up a camp and whipped out a guitar and sang "Kum Ba Yah"... all 128 verses. It was ridiculous, I was screaming "Blitz, Blitz, SOMETHING!!!" Oi, fun times.
We need a D Line hardcore, and a killer LB would be nice too.
Ok - I guess I understated the problem. The problem with our rush was that Flacco was always able to get rid of the ball even when we sent blitzers. We just didn't get their quick enough. Ideally, it's nice to get pressure and sacks without having to send half the team on the blitz.
A high quality Wide Receiver. Because with one of those as a legitimate #1 teams will have to take up two bodies to cover him. This creates more running room for the RB's and opens things up for Ginn, Bess and Camarillo one of which should be doubled as well. It also takes some pressure off of the O-Line which would be #2 as far as needs go IMHO. Then #3 would be the interior DL and the DE's. #4 is D secondary with #5 being LB's.
Our O-Line has been patchwork since Thomas went down on day 1. We've done well with what we have, but we need to shore that up. I'm not where where on the defense another pass rusher will help. What we REALLY need is more weapons for Pennington...hence WR. Bess is reliable, but not fast enough to break free consistently. Ginn is WAY too inconsistent. Camarillo was good, but he will NOT be the answer. We NEED a big time WR.
1. DT
2. DE
3. Center (i could of put this as #1, but getting no pressure over several games skewed the vote.)
4. OLB (Maybe Merling will move out here.)
5. ILB (crowder is ok, but we need to improve over ayodele)
6. FS
7/8. (tied.) CB WR. imho we are okay for now at these positions with stronger line play on both sides.

My list
1. ILB (Ayodele needs to go. Crowder may be gone as well)
2. FS (Hill is too small and doesn't tackle well)
3. WR (Ginn is too expensive and unproductive to keep around)
4. OLB (Porter can rush the QB, but I'm not sure about his run stopping or coverage skills).
5. CB (Depth just in case Will Allen or Goodman go down)
The rest doesn't matter, as we have young talent who will only be better next year.
I think our Oline will be just fine next year when everyone comes back healthy and if we resign Carey. We lost our two starting guards and that hurt us. We need another stud on defense, i don't care what position he plays, hopefully someone that can put pressure on the qb, a ballhawk, something. Porter can't be the only playmaker we have, we need another. We put no pressure on the qb. I know we have other holes but this is a good place to start.
