On the contrary, if it's about image then Ross should absolutely let him ride out the season. People criticized Ross for trying to get a new coach, how is it going to look if he fires him 5 games after extending him?

Every week of awful coaching shows everyone that Ross was right to try to upgrade the HC position. Every week that Ross gives Sparano a chance to turn it around makes him look patient.

Sparano is going nowhere until January 2nd. I would be shocked if he is fired mid season.

If Ross is concerned about the image of the team then he MUST fire Sparano and tell the public, and more importantly the players, that he won't accept losing. He can spin the extension as being patient with Sparano...and it won't be a lie. Patience however does have its limits.

If the coaches are going to demand excellence and be alowed to cut players for non-performance...the coaches can't be immune.

Andrew Luck is a junior. He may not even come out for the draft. Everyone thought he was coming out this year, and he didn't. So, can we please stop with the Suck for Luck nonsense?

Why wouldn't he come out?

Pros of staying in school:

- He loves Stanford.

Cons of staying in school:

- Already getting his Bachelor's degree.
- You don't go into a Master's program for ONE YEAR -while- playing football. There is no point.
- He's still going to have Suck for Luck and he will still be drafted by the worst team.
- He could get hurt.
- He could play horribly and lose draft stock.

Do you think he loves Stanford that much? I doubt it.

The colts are way better!!
Just Garcon and Wayne alone make them better.
I'd take Painter over anyone we have currently.
I can't even think of the Colts' head coaches name, and I know he's better than Sparano. It could be Bozo the Clown and I'd still feel the same way.

And just to be clear, he is NOT a junior. He is a senior. He is getting his degree THIS YEAR. He would be returning to play football as a graduate student.

Mark, for the record I never once have been in the S-F-L camp. And I STILL am not even after that, to quote Jim Mandich, "Stench of Cow Manure Hovering over that performance by the Dolphins"

I was just wondering what the tiebreaking procedure was, that's all.

the tiebreaker is opponents strength of schedule---whoever played the tougher schedule wins. meaning we most likely lose a tiebreaker to the likes of the colts, broncos, rams and chiefs.

all or nothing boys!!

R/Jay,

DO you understand how college football works? Andrew Luck is what you call a *REDSHIRT* junior, which means he has another year of eligibility left.

Just because he's a redshirt junior doesn't mean he's coming back. He's a junior in the sense of football, but a senior in the sense of academics and will receive his degree this year.

He'd be a grad student playing his "senior" football year if he came back. Something he'd be slightly off his rocker to do. I've seen bs players or kickers do that, but not a sure thing overall #1 draft pick qb.

He'll get his degree then go to NFL.

This shouldn't even be up for discussion.

No way. Beck actually looked decent for Washington. He might actually figure out a way to win the game! We can't have that!

And everyone believed that Luck was coming out this year, too. He would have been the #1 overall pick this year, no question. And they believed it even more when Harbaugh left. But, he didn't. And he has that option again this year. What if he looks at the team with a #1 pick, and decides that the organization is such a disaster that he wants no part of playing for them? What if he pulls an Elway, and refuses to play for the team that drafts him?

And btw, Peyton Manning got his degree in 3 years, and despite being a lock to be the #1 overall pick, he went back to play another college season.
