Dolphins News: Heller Placed on IR; Eric Moore Signed

*** DOLPHINS NEWS ***

Nov 02, 1995: -- Heller Placed on IR; Eric Moore Signed --

The Dolphins announced today that they have place injured offensive tackle Ron Heller on injured reserve, following surgery on both knees to remove injured cartilege.

First round draft pick Billy Milner will take his starting spot on the offensive line. Milner had a pretty good start on Sunday evening against the Bills, lining up against Bryce Paup for most of the game.

To take his place on the roster, the Dolphins have signed tackle Eric Moore. The 6'-5", 290 lb Moore was drafted by the New York Giants in 1988, where he played 6 seasons. He signed with the Bengals as a free agent last year and played for them during 1994, before being waived out of the Bengal's training camp this summer.

After that, he apparently signed with the Cleveland Browns, but was cut by them on Oct 5th.

In other news, the Dolphins have waived tight end Joe Planansky off the regular roster and defensive end Arthur Bussie and wide receiver Demeris Johnson off the practice squad.

Offensive tackle Mark Hatfield was also signed to the practice squad.

My Comments:

I've always liked Ron Heller for his tough attitude and his defense of Dan Marino. He seems to have the same attitude as Bryan Cox has about sticking up for his teammates and he's often the first one to step up in a confrontation on the field.

He'll never make the Hall of Fame, but he's a fine player and I think his attitude will be missed.

Joe Planansky will undoubtedly be signed back to the practice squad tomorrow, so the Dolphins can keep him around.
