DOLPHINS: Season's Over

When I said, "The Dolphins simply weren't as good this season," I meant it literally. They didn't win as many games. I didn't say anything about talent -- although all of the injuries clearly dropped the talent level.

I agree that you can't completely blame the schedule because the division plays basically the same one, but when you play a team often means as much as who you play. Both the Dolphins and the Jets, for example, played the Colts, but who could argue that we really played the same team? And both the Fins and the Pats played the Titans, but again, was it really the same team? There are more examples---the only team I would say the Fins caught at the right time was the Chargers. I think not just the schedule, but just in general, the Fins got a lot of breaks last year---healthy, schedule broke right, got some bounces, etc. This year, all those things went the other way---a ton of bad breaks, injuries especially, but other things, too. It's like all the luck we got last year came back around on us this year. Hopefully it's evened out now and we can start fresh next year.
I disagree that the Fins were not as good this year as last talent-wise---I agree, though, that the Patriots are better than the Fins this year, if that's what you mean.

And, with the same schedule save for two games, the Dolphins finished four games behind the Patriots. The Dolphins simply weren't as good this season -- forget the schedule. All of the injuries among key players sure didn't help. It's actually amazing that the Dolphins accomplished what they did, especially with all of the shuffling on the OL.
