Right, exactly.  Elway played pretty well in the SB itself---well enough to be MVP, though IMO that was somewhat of a sentimental pick.  A lot of Broncos had good games (including TD, who had 100 yards rushing despite the migraines).

But yeah, the wider point is that TD rushed for 2,008 yards and scored 23 touchdowns that season, was named NFL MVP and Offensive Player of the Year.  Davis drove both of those Bronco SB teams---if he hadn't come along, Elway would not have won a SB (which doesn't in and of itself make Elway overrated----that's a whole different argument.  My point is just that it's silly that those two SBs, which were not Elway-centric, changed how so many experts talk about his career.)
