DOLPHINS: Patriots

I really don't think the NFL made any concerted effort to try and screw the
Dolphins. I imagine that creating the NFL schedule is a monumental task.
No matter what there are going to be some teams each year that get put in a
bad position. Miami is going to get screwed a little more than other teams
because they are in a division far away from the other 3 teams in the
division.
Dallas probably has a similar deal. All of their division mates are a long
ways away from Dallas, so they'll face some rough travel schedules many
years. In 2007 they had to play at Philly and then at New York Giants in
consecutive weeks. Later that same year they played at Carolina and at
Washington. Dallas is one of (if not THE) most popular team in the
country. If there was any franchise that the NFL wanted to help out, Dallas
would probably be the one.
If Miami felt that the travel schedule was too difficult, they probably
could have fought to be in the AFC South with Jacksonville and Tennessee
when the NFL realigned in 2002 if they wanted to ease the travel. But
staying with their longtime rivals was more important.
