I really have no faith in Murphy and why should we til he shows something? Berger, a little more because Tuna &The Helpers went out and invited him in right away in free agency. So when he was in Dallas they must of saw something they liked.
To me, another good draft scenario would be go corner at 25 and 56 and take Max Unger at 44 if he makes it there. Fair chance he will IMO, most value boards don't show him much higher. Unger as you know has experience at LT as a 2-yr starter, and then the same at C. He played some G at the Senior Bowl and did fine there too. I'm of the opinion that anyone who can block well at T and C, can also do so at G anyway.
If we did that, we could then look for a ILB in the 3rd, Beckwith may be gone, but McKillop and Brinkley should be there. I'd probably skip the OLB pick then because we have more sheer numbers of OLB right now than about any position except maybe WR

Very interesting, I wouldnt have too much heart burn with this draft. I would prefer to take a guard in the first four rounds, I just dont have a lot of confidence Smiley and Groves are both going to make it through the entire year without getting hurt. Satale will be the first back up but I'd like to see another D Thomas type player. BTW, I have no faith in the Murphy's and Berger types we have behind Satale.
I really like Sammie S. I think he is a playmaker that is going to fall due to his lack of size. I think he could come in and at the minimum make an impact as a returner.

Here is my most recent mock draft. It is CB heavy and will be until we sign one who has a halfway chance of helping the team
1. Darius Butler CB UConn - He is on our radar and has excellent coverage skills and overall athleticism. He has experience on offense too and could help out in the wildcat
2a. D.J. Moore CB Vanderbilt - Not sure he lasts this long, but it's possible. The best footwork in the draft, smooth and natural. Probably also as good at WR as most receivers in the draft. If we could lead off with this pair, our CB problems would be solved for a few years.
2b. Darry Beckwith ILB LSU - He is actually my favorite ILB in this draft. Concerns that he wasn't big enough for Parcells D were eased when he weighed in at 242 at the combine. Could carry 250 easy in a year. He was the real bellwhether of the LSU defense imo.
3. David Veikune OLB Hawaii - I really liked what I seen of him during the Senior Bowl, practices and game. Then he followed up with a strong combine, strength wise and in drills. I think he can be a good pass rusher for us.
4. Brandon Hughes CB Oregon St - Another speedy corner with good coverage instincts to throw into the mix.
5. Quinn Johnson FB LSU - Love this guy as a lead blocker and receiver. Can carry the rock too, a Lou Polite clone.
7a. Roy Miller NT Texas - Strong, quick natural NT was the underrated anchor of the Texas D. He displayed good movement skills in the open field and was a monster on the bench at the combine. Won defensive MVP in their bowl game win.
7b. Sammie Stroughter WR Oregon St - A fine natural receiver with good quickness, soft hands, good route runner, sneaky fast. Overcome a lot of adversity. I think he will make it in the NFL.
7c. Dallas Reynolds C/OT/OG BYU - He is a poor man's Max Unger. Experienced at C and LT, but played the other line positions too. Would be a perfect 6th OL swingman. He was All Conference as a senior at C, and allowed no sacks playing LT as a junior while playing in the pass happy MWC. Tough, hardnosed and ornery, he doesn't back down to anyone.

Some changes after the signing of Grove and the release of Holliday. Granted this is going to change some more as the Fins address other positions via FA.
• Round 1, Pick# 25 - WR - H. Nicks
My favorite WR in this years draft, the guy runs great routes, has great hands. I think he could be our Irvin and Ginn could be Harper.
• Round 2, Pick# 12 - CB - D. Butler
We need CB's like we no other position.
• Round 2, Pick# 24 – DE – Jarron Gilbert
NT in college will be a 3-4 DE. The guy has great explosion off the ball and plays in the offenses back field.
• Round 3, Pick# 23 – CB - Jairus Byrd
Don't know if he last this long but if he does he is a great value pick at this point of the draft.
• Round 4, Pick# 25 – OG – Tyronne Green
This years potential Thomas, I think this guy could start if Smiley is not ready to go (and or when Smiley gets hurt again) . Satale adds depth but we have garbage behind him.
• Round 5, Pick# 25 – NT – Roy Miller
good value pick in the 5th round.
• Round 7, Pick# 4 – WR – Brandon Tate
Tate would be a guy that we would take this year with the goal of getting him ready for the 2010 season. I just dont think he is going to be ready for this season.
• Round 7, Pick# 23 – OT – Garrett Reynolds
Depth at the OT position, project guy...
• Round 7, Pick# 28 – LB – Antonio Appleby
