DOLPHINS: Wildcat Debut

I'm a big Ronnie Brown fan, but I can actually see it, too. I think the theory is probably that when RBs break down in this league, they go fast. So the Fins don't want to be the team that gives Ronnie his next big contract, in the fear that it'll be right about the point he starts to break down. So if that's your thought, better to plan ahead and get something for him, and begin planning for that big 2010 and 2011 stretch that you're preparing for and trade him while his value is high. Otherwise, you end up either losing him in FA or trading him for nothing because everyone knows you're going to cut him.
I wouldn't be in any hurry to trade him---I think he's a good player. But if someone's gonna give you something for him like a first round pick? Or even a 2nd and 3rd (or maybe even 4th)? I'd sure consider it.

I can see this. His rookie K is getting into the ridiculous money years. If the price is right, I'm for it. If Ronnie is gonna get superstar money, I really want a guy who takes over games. I know part of that could be coaching and maybe they were being extra special careful with him coming off the knee injury, but I kind of wonder if part of it is attitude. I think to be a dominant back, you got to have a pretty overdeveloped ego, where you want the ball all the time. I'm not sure if he has that.
Patrick, getting down verbally...

But that led to speculation about who was the most likely to qualify based on what he was worth and his contract situation. That's where you heard Ronnie's name. It was just conjecture by some writer.
