Bob Griese was the best QB we ever had. Marino was the best passer.
I still don't know why more QBs never started copying Giese's method of varying the snap count to draw the opposition off side. A cheap way to get 5 yards, but it always seemed to work.
Garbo...thinks The Trfecta prefers a Griese like QB.

Subject: DOLPHINS: Pennington
I wanted to add my 2 cents about Pennington - he is no Dan Marino, but he
might be a Bob Griese....
He doesn't have the strongest arm, but he seems to have every other
important quality that a QB needs - he's intelligent, cool under pressure,
has a very accurate arm, doesn't make stupid mistakes and is a natural
I think he's clearly the best QB the Dolphins have had since Marino
With one of the youngest, most inexperienced receiving corps in the NFL
and only about a month of training camp to learn the system and get used
to his receivers, Pennington has lead the Dolphins to the following:
1. They are ranked 6th in the NFL in passing yards.
2. They are tied with New Orleans for first in the NFL in yards per pass
attempt, gaining 8.4 yards per attempt. This is the single most important
stat in measuring offensive efficiency.
3. Pennington is second in the league in accuracy and tied for 5th in QB
rating, along with having only thrown 3 interceptions in 7 games.
If he continues to perform at this level, he is more than capable of
leading the Dolphins to a SuperBowl win. He can't do it by himself, but
with a complete team around him, the Dolphins can win a championship with
Chad Pennington at quarterback.
