maybe not, but remember - he set 4 single season records in 84 - while
going to the Super Bowl. It's not like it was garbage time comeback
yards/TDs like Drew Brees.
I'm guessing the jump in TDs in the 40's coincided with when they made
the ball smaller.
I thought that one of the guys inducted into the HOF in Marino's class
or one after set the record for 20 TDs in a season with the larger
ball. A jewish guy. I wanna say Benny something.
here it is - Benny Friedman: "Friedman was the NFL's first great
passer. His first four seasons were legendary as he threw an NFL
record 11 touchdowns as a rookie with the Cleveland Bulldogs in 1927,
and set another record in 1929 with 20 TD passes as the quarterback of
the New York Giants."
