DOLPHINS: Dave George Eats Crow

I guess I just feel like Wanny's teams generally didn't really underperform on the field. As the teams got worse and worse, they performed worse and worse....of course it was his fault they got worse and worse, but before he managed to tear it apart as a GM, he coached the team he inherited pretty well. He got more out of them than JJ ever did, and that's with a huge mess at QB (partially of his own making) and nothing at RB. Whereas with Cam last year, that was a bad team, but it wasn't a 1-15 team. I can't think of anything he actually did right.I dunno, it's way too depressing to think about it too much in a week where we have a game with real-life playoff implications. Tony Sparano has more coaching ability in his little finger than those two do put together, so that's what matters.> From: ldouglas at gmail.com> Date: Thu, 4 Dec 2008 13:12:33 -0500> To: dolphins-disc at phins.com> Subject: Re: DOLPHINS: Dave George Eats Crow> > Let's not forget the condition of the team Wanny took over vs that which Cam took over. Wanny had a strong team that was whipped into shape by a disciplinarian and didn't change much. And a team used to a level of success. Cam had a team that just had their previous coach bail on them, an owner who looked like he didn't know what he was doing, a rudderless team whose success only occurred on ESPN Classic.> > Given that, I don't think you can vault Cam over Dave. Dave took a Mustang, put some Nitro in it, redlined it with the emergency brake on and then traded it in for a Festiva. Cam took a Festiva, took out the A/C and the radio and crashed it into a parking meter.> > -----Original Message-----> From: "Kristoffer Shields" <kms223 at hotmail.com>> To: dolphins-disc at phins.com> Sent: 12/4/08 12:34 PM> Subject: Re: DOLPHINS: Dave George Eats Crow> > > > I think Bruce's first question is right--who can say?. Personally, though, while I'd rather hit myself in the head with a coffee mug than root for a team coached by either of them, if I had to choose, I'd rather have Wannstedt. He was impressively bad at judging talent, but he did at least take the team he inherited (with Jay Fiedler at QB and Lamar Smith at RB) to an 11-5 record and a playoff win. I don't have any faith that Cameron could do that. And it took Wannstedt a few years to completely lose the locker room--it seems like Cameron accomplished that in about 4 days. Wanny was obviously way too conservative, but at least he seemed to have a plan (even it if often wasn't a very good one). It seemed like Cameron had no idea what he was even trying to do. Only Herm Edwards can match Cameron as a poor game manager.> > Maybe Cameron will learn from his mistakes and grow into being a pretty good head coach, which Wannstedt couldn't do. I sure wouldn't want to be the team who took that chance, though.> Date: Thu, 4 Dec 2008 10:54:35 -0600> From: brucegb at realtime.net> To: dolphins-disc at phins.com> Subject: Re: DOLPHINS: Dave George Eats Crow>> On Thu, Dec 04, 2008 at 01:06:13AM -0600, J.
