The thing is, it seems that the most controversial calls happen at the most
crucial points of the game (I know, probably because at non-crucial points,
no one makes that big a deal about it).
Personally, I feel that if the decision is potentially game-changing, that
it should be committee decision (i.e. all the refs should watch the replays
and come to a decision together). How many times have we seen the crowd all
groan in unison after seeing the replay on the big screen, and yet the ref
still doesn't overturn an obvious bad call?
As someone else said though, all in all the refs do a pretty good job.
