Right now, users wishing to sign up for the boards must respond to an email once they enter their information. That prevents the bots from automatically registering.
Unfortunately, JC is right - some spam companies employ large groups of people who do nothing but post spam to websites like phins.com. And there's really nothing that can be done about that.

There was a memory issue on the server - apparently too many people needed to make comments on the game, along with people hitting the News Wire.

I think some of the major news media - like perhaps the official Dolphins Website, ESPN and NFL.com - have some kind of SMS texting available. Unfortunately, we don't have that at Phins.com yet.

Jim Mandich was the 29th overall pick in the 1970 draft, which was (in those days) the top of the 2nd round. He was Miami's first pick and signed with the Dolphins for a rookie salary of $13,000 with no signing bonus.
Dave Hyde told me yesterday that Mandich didn't feel like he could afford air conditioning for his car (at $400) that year.

There was a problem with phins.com, caused by high volume, partly due to high posting activities and partly due to heavy readership of the News Wire. The server was repeatedly running out of memory until I cleaned up the News Wire database. Cleaning up the database seems to have fixed the problem.
