I could be way off base. I know Ireland is supposedly not a great personable guy and free agents, etc.. don't want to come to Miami. If the Dolphins are such a horrible organization, the why aren't all the Dolphin's free agents immediately bolting for other teams?
The former players that have expressed displeasure are those that historically have run their mouth more than they made plays - P

Thank God that another team can catch $hit in the media for at least 24 hours instead of the Dolphins!
The Sean Payton thing helps also!!!!

I enjoyed the read. I dont agree with all Ireland's moves, but he doesn't panic, doesn't overpay, and cuts dead weight. So he's an a$$hole. Kinda sounds like New England and Pittsburgh who I think have had a little success.
The Dolphins are a laughing stock because the NFL Network and ESPN have to justify wall-to-wall NFL coverage with all the "Insiders", former players, etc. Sma

I predict he will go to Tenn. Homecoming of sorts. Revered/can do no wrong down there.
I say good riddance to that media circus...........

As usual, BNF is the voice of reason.
I made a post awhile back that signing Manning would be detrimental to a new coach, etc.. The media circus that has gone on over the past week is nuts. Not condusive to a first time head coach installing HIS philosophy on the organization.

I do love all the "insiders" from ESPN and NFL Network giving predictions. They seem to have more people covering the NFL than actually play or are employed by the teams. And 99% of them regurgitate the same crap that everyone else has said. IMO, they have about as much insight at this point as the rest of us.

Killing time until Manning is released, mock drafts start really appearing, etc
Most hated AFC East Opponents. A start...
1. Tom Brady - Patriots
2. Mark Gastineau - Jets
3. Steve Tasker - Bills

For all the "excitement" of the NFL, in any given game there is only 12-15 minutes of real action over the 3+ hours it takes to complete. The rest of the time is guys standing around, huddles, commercial timeouts, etc.
Soccer is 45 minutes straight (plus stoppage time) each half. no commercial breaks, etc. Matches are done in less than 2 hours.
As for popularity, the Super Bowl

After the 2nd Super Bowl win, Cszonka, Kiick, and Warfield left which kind of paved the way for the Pittsburgh years. If those guys had stayed I think things would have been different.

What do you think the five greatest Dolphins games have been?
I going:
1. Superbowl to cap off perfect season
2. Beating the Bears on the Monday night cap to prevent THEIR perfect season
3. Marino's fake spike game at the Meadowlands beating the Jets
4. AFC Championship game against the Jets beating Gastaneau and Co.
5. Overtime playoff loss to San Diego. Yes they lost but still one of

I dated a girl from Hungary. I was a happy lad (for awhile)
WWI final Score:
Allies 24
Bad Guys 10
The allies never actually invaded Germany. The war just ended when Germany gave up. The Kaiser never admitted defeat. Who knows what would have happened if New England had sided with Germany. Perhaps the refs would have called roughly the QB when no one is near Brady, the tuck rule, a

I also did not watch the Super Bowl. My son asked me why. I told him its because I 100% can't stand the Patriots, Brady and the crap calls they get game in and game out. Pisses me off to the level that it's unhealthy.
I ended up watching like 6 straight hours of WWI documentaries. If you have any questions on the Austro-Hungarian empire, trench warefare, or the sinking of the Lusitania, ple

I agree (once again) with BigNastyFish. Wherever Manning goes next year will be a 3 ring circus.
IMO, we are not that close to being a Super Bowl contender. Miami is still a few years away even with Manning. I'd rather have Flynn.

I like Moore. I would also agree if an upgrade is available then go for it. I am against trading the farm to acquire ANY player. New England, Pittsburgh etc are consistently good because they dont overpay and dont panic trade to obtain a particular player
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
BigNastyFish - Well said. If you can trade up without giving away the farm, then do so. Desperation in the NFL gets you nowhere. Ex - The Herschel Walker trade for Minn, Ricky Williams drafting by New Orleans, Raiders acquisition of Carson Palmer. Each instance was an obvious overpayment and benefitted the other team more than the team which acquired the "missing piece" of the puzzle

I think he is deciding whether he really wants to coach again. Personally, I dont want to hire someone that gets in then in 2 years decides that being out of the game was more fun and less hassle. Then we are back to Square 1.

One mitigating factor is the size, strength, and speed of the players now compared to even 10 years ago. You can't have guys lke James Harrison headhunting unless you want to watch 2nd/3rd string QBs play
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
Houston winning with a 3rd string QB? I though its impossible to win without Brady/Rogers/Manning/Brees caliper QB.

I know most feel that having a top tier QB will take us to the promised land. In order to thrive/win the AFC East, we have to unseat New England.
For the past several years, the Patriots defense has not been overly dominant. Both the Dolphins and the Bills established huge leads the past 2 weeks only to fold late via turnovers. The Patriots thrive because they take advantage of turnovers vi

The problem with the spread offense in college is that the overall skill and depth of the defensive secondaries varies greatly. The 4th-5th DBs are not top notch caliper players. also, these QBs have very athletic WRs which compensate/cover up poorly thrown balls by making the reception.
In the NFL, the worst DB on the field is one of the best a QB faced in college. The WRs just can't outjum

I think once the Jags and the Chiefs fired their coaches, Ross felt he had to jump into the coach search pool or he was going to miss out or fall behind those teams in pursuing the top names.

2010 started 4-4 including win over eventual Super Bowl Champ Green Bay. Losses - Pitt, Balt, NYJ, NE.
2009 started 3-5 including 2 wins over the Jets who made the AFC Championship game. Losses to Atlanta, Indy, San Diego, New Orleans, New England.
It's not like we lost to crappy teams early on in those seasons. This season??? If we score TDs instead of kick FGs, our season would be muc

I admire the coaching staff for what they have done with no off-season, knowing that their jobs were shopped around the open market, etc..
Keep hearing Sporano sucks, that he has no imagination. Granted, I'm not a huge fan of kicking 5 fgs a game. He thought out of the box enough though to change the training schedule and it's paid off.
Many times in a coaches career, there is one insta

Alot of talk about Cowher, Gruden, Fisher, etc. getting back into coaching and saving the Dolphins.
When is the last time a coach retired for a few years, took time off or became a broadcaster, then got back into coaching and was successful long term?
Just food for thought.
