Marshall and Patterson have 75 combined career starts. PFF had Patterson as the 52nd best CB in the league this year, which was higher than anyone on our team. In 2011, PFF had Patterson as the league's 36th best CB, which was higher than Vontae Davis and Leon Hall, and Marshall at #49, which was higher than Charles Woodson and Cary Williams. Marshall was injured in the season opener, an

Interesting guy. Played some FB in college. Did 44 reps on the bench press in a pre-draft workout, best of anyone in the 2009 draft class. Has probably been misused as a 3-4 DE in San Diego. I say that because he appears to offer nothing as an outside pass rusher. 3-4 DEs need to be better run defenders, but there should be some sort of pass rush ability. He looks like a pure run stuffer.

I think it's a given that we draft a WR in the first 4 rounds. Bess isn't under contract for 2014, and Gibson signed what amounts to a 1 year deal. And we absolutely need a TE. Keller is on a one year deal. And none of the top 3 TE currently on our roster can block. Like it or not, you need a TE or two that can play in short yardage situations. And Keller is coming off a injury marred season.

He looked really good during Senior Bowl week. He ran by guys like they were standing still.

It's essentially a one year deal for Gibson. It's only $3.75M guaranteed. And he's getting $1.75M of that this season. So, you can cut him next year at a cap hit of $2M. If he works out in this system, then you have a good deal. If not, you can get out of it cheaply. So, with this, you still have to believe WR could be a target in the draft. Bess isn't under contract for 2014, and Gibson's con

Cutting Dansby and Burnett were not moves of a GM who is trying to save his job. Those two moves were pretty bold, and definitely not easily justifiable for the short term. They make a lot more sense from a long term point of view. It makes me think he at least has some level of comfort.

I would find it really hard to believe that Jeff Ireland, who learned a lot from Bill Parcells, would go after a 5'11 DE. From PFF: In 2009, as a 3-4 OLB, Dumervil had a -0.2 overall grade, 14th overall at the position. He was a +14.6 as a pass rusher, and a -13.2 as a run defender. In 2011, as a 4-3 DE, he had a +1.9 overall grade, 30th at the position. He was a -2.3 as a pass rusher, a

I'm OK with signing Eric Winston and giving Martin a chance to prove he can be a LT. But, it is a roll of the dice. Winston is good. Martin was very bad in his short stint at LT. Vs Patriots- 1 sack, 4 hurries vs 49ers- 1 sack, 4 hurries vs Jaguars- 2 hurries vs Bills- 2 hits, 1 hurry vs Patriots- 6 hurries That's 2 sacks, 2 hits, 17 hurries. 21 total QB disruptions, or just over 4 per

In 2012, 57% of the targets for Gibson (targets, not completions) resulted in a first down. That was the #1 percentage among WR in the NFL.

Gibson is a different player than Bess. He is not limited to the slot position. He's also much more physical, and would be a better redzone option that Bess. He had a solid game against us this year, matched up with Sean Smith most of the game. Think about the idea that Philbin/Sherman want interchangeable WRs, guy who can play all 3 positions. If Gibson was here, that becomes a more viable thing

He had 48 QB hurries, 3rd best among 4-3 DE. He ranked 7th overall as a 4-3. He ranked 6th best against the run. He was terrific in 2012. Brother of Martellus. Played for Mike Sherman in college.

Depends on what happens. If we sign Winston (or bring back Long) and sign Michael Bennett? Then I'd say CB is the likely way to go at #12.

I am a big Bess fan. I think he works really hard, and is a dependable player. But, I also realize he is limited by his lack of speed and size. Based on various tweets, Brandon Gibson is on his way to Miami for a free agent visit. 57% of the targets (not catches, but targets) to Gibson resulted in a first down last year, #1 among WRs in the NFL. If he gets signed, Bess' future in Miami is very
