We would have to trade up to the 3rd spot to get a shot at Fisher or Joeckel. That would require trading out first and both second round picks, or our first, on

Albert allowed 1 sack in 2012, with 17 total QB disruptions, and was ranked 7th by PFF in pass blocking efficiency. Martin allowed 6 sacks, and 57 total QB disruptions, ranking 64th in pass blocking efficiency.
This is about protecting your potential franchise QB. Martin was awful in pass protection last season. Putting all of your eggs in Martin's basket could ruin the entire season.

It's always interesting when Gil starts linking teams and players. He is right more than he is wrong.
Fins are not bringing in Johnson for a pre-draft visit. Mando said a team source told him they had questions about Johnson. Smokescreens?

The only thing I have read was from Armando Salguero, that we like Fisher and Joeckel much better than Johnson, and have questions about Johnson.

Both Soliai and Starks are free agents at the end of the year. It is really, really unlikely that both will be around in 2014, so DT is a need. And there is another way to look at it. Say you get one of the premier DTs at #12. You could free up $6M in cap space by trading Soliai. They have Vaughn Martin as a veteran backup. Jared Odrick already moves inside on passing downs as it is, so he provid

Every week, Tim Ryan and Pat Kirwan do a mock draft together on Friday afternoon on Sirius NFL radio. This week, they had Miami trading the #12 pick, our first second round pic

It's not about whether Bess is a good player or not. Is he in the plans for 2014 or not? He's not under contract. In 2014, Miami has $27M committed to Mike Wallace, Brian Hartline, and Brandon Gibson. What are the odds that Davone Bess is also going to be on the roster at $4M per year or so? I would say the chances of that are pretty slim. So, if he's not in the plans for 2014, they have to do th

He played LT his whole college career. He was bad in pass protection the

Interesting that one of the knocks on Johnson is that he needs to improve his strength, just like Martin a year ago.
I thought I read somewhere recently that Parcells/Ireland never drafted anyone from Oklahoma in either of their careers?
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
Martin was quite bad in pass protection at LT. Worse than he was at RT, which is saying something.
vs NE- 5 QB disruptions
vs SF- 5 QB disruptions, including one of the most embarrassing moments you will ever see for a LT
vs Jax- 2 QB disruptions, one of the league's 3 worst pass rushing teams
vs Buf- 3 QB disruptions
vs NE- 6 QB disruptions
That's pretty bad. 21 QB disruptions in 5 gam

I think the fascination is a combination of the 40 time, his upside, and the fact that he is the only top rated LT prospect that may be available to us.

Gil Brandt says to not believe the rumors, and that 3 QBs will be drafted in the top 15 picks. If that happens, Johnson could slide to us.

It's really not a question about 2013 when it comes to Bess. It's: "will he be here in 2014?" If the answer is "no," or "not likely," then the Fins have to do their due diligence and see what they could get in a trade for him.
I am a Bess fan. But, he's not a redzone threat. It's wrong to say his issues with getting into the endzone were due to playing with a rook

Keep in mind, they can rollover any unused cap space into next year, which could help pay for Mike Wallace's $17M cap hit in 2014.

I do believe we will draft another speedy receiver in the first 4 rounds. But, I don't think it will be Austin. That's an awfully high draft spot for a 5'8, 174-lb player. Yes, I know how explosive he is. But, look at Green Bay's WRs. Philbin has said they want interchangeable WRs. Green Bay's smallest WR is Cobb, at 5'10, 192. I just don't see it happening with Austin for us in the first round.

I agree. The Jimmy Johnson era log is cartoonish and silly looking when you see them side by side. I guess that's sort of fitting when you think about it.
