So Tank for Tua is in full effect now. Or Tank for Trevor if they want to wait that long. I'm not yet sure what I think of this. Obviously the Dolphins need help in a lot of areas, so stock-piling draft picks is a good way to go. When you decide to trade your best player, you should get back a pretty good haul for him, and picking up two firsts and a second and a couple throw-ins for Tunsil

Chargers went to the Super Bowl in 1995 (lost to the 49ers). They are the only team left in the playoffs that has never won one.

Yeah, so would I, but I think it's highly unlikely there's an experienced HC with a winning record around who would be interested in working with this mess of an organization.

In terms of relating this situation to the "real world" -- this is not the same as walking out in the middle of your shift and saying "I'm done." This is more like being a part of a major product presentation or panel discussion or something, with a bunch of your co-workers directly involved, and walking out on that. In the former, well, you've quit on your team, that kind o

Pardon my ignorance, but I didn't think that's what "line coach" meant.

Alone in first place in the AFC East. Obviously way early in the season, but -- when was the last time that happened? No, seriously.

Frankly, E.J. Manuel would be a better choice. Younger, cheaper, probably better. Wouldn't take much to trade for him either. You gotta think Geno Smith is going to be available soon. Worth a shot. Mark Sanchez is just waiting for someone to uncover all that potential he showed in his first few years, and he'll come really cheap. Or Brandon Weedin. Where's Brady Quinn these days?

Tony Romo is 1) old, 2) expensive, and 3) fragile. So, a perfect fit.

Of course, then they won a shit-load more, but still...

I'm predicting a loss, 'cause that's where I am with this team right now. Hoping Campbell's style produces a team that shows up and plays hard from the opening whistle, instead of farting around until they're down by 20. But I'm thinking he's got too much crapola to deal with from the previous regime to turn things completely around his first game out. Let's say a 10-13 loss.

I for one am glad to see that the front office is learning from previous screw-ups. They passed on Drew Brees twice -- no way were they going to make that mistake with Quinn

Well, crap. It looks like the NFL does the tiebreaking thing top-down now instead of bottom-up. I swear they used to try to eliminate lower teams first, but this note from the nfl.com site indicates otherwise: "Only one club advances to the playoffs in any tie-breaking step. Remaining tied clubs revert to the first step of the applicable division or Wild-Card tie breakers. As an example

See the note under "Three or More Clubs" from the tiebreaking procedure on nfl.com that SCPhinsFan posted earlier

My understanding is that in a three-team tiebreaker, you eliminate the lowest team and then start over again with the two-team tiebreakers. San Diego would be eliminated from the three-way thanks to conference record (currently 4-6, compared to Miami's 6-3 and Baltimore's 6-4), and then Baltimore would take the head-to-head against Miami. Or what eesti said.

I am shocked -- SHOCKED -- that no one seems to be calling for the Dolphins to sign him, given the reactions to the Monday night beat-down in certain quarters.

It wasn't as long ago as I thought -- the Dolphins won the 2010 opener at Buffalo, 15-10. Before that, you have to go back to 2005 and Nick Saban's first game, a win over Denver.

"I have enjoyed my time in chanting the greatest chant in all of sports." Just out of curiosity, what is that? "We want Tebow"? Blaming the fans -- boy, is Hambone going to be pissed he didn't think of that first.

I see Tannehill has been on this board. Quote from the article: "There are always going to be people rooting for you and people that doubt you."

Almost went with Incognito, but in the fourth quarter, there was a very noticeable "Let's go Dolphins" chant going on. It's been years since I heard that from the Jets' home stadium, and if they'd had any spirit left at that point, I doubt the typical drunk and obnoxious Jets fans (I know, that's redundant and redundant) would have allowed that to happen.

On the other hand... "Smith says he was upset when Newton remained sitting on the bench instead of watching backup Derek Anderson..." Just what in hell is Newton going to learn by watching Derek Anderson??
