Er, Henne sucks. :-) The Phins should have at least gotten Vince Young or some other real competition. Even if he COULD improve, he's not going to without that. I can't remember the last time I was this unexcited at the start of a Dolphins season.

Sorry, Sanchoke is one name I wouldn't give him. He's had about the same rating and stats as Henne this year but the difference is that he comes through when needed. He plays better when things are on the line, while Henne plays worse. We need to try to unload Henne to some team that doesn't appreciate that this is probably a permanent quality.

Harbaugh will be Saban all over again. Hot college coach who thinks he works on air and tries to take the same approaches to the NFL that work with the kids in one region of the country. It won't work. On the other hand seeing the way Vick developed this year convinces me Young has a chance. If we find the right mentors to work with him, keep him focused on improving as a passer. I don't k

I hope Ross is keeping the Saban experience in mind here. A great college coach is not necessarily even a good NFL coach. But as far as Sparano, I don't have much sympathy. I said weeks ago he had to either fire Henning or get fired along with him at the end of the season. Looks like that might happen. Sure, maybe he didn't want to embarass Henning at the end of a long career, but they cou

I'm sure it'll be kind of controversial, but: Ricky Williams Not the Ricky of the first few years, but the one of the last few, who has quietly done everything asked of him week in and week out, win or loss, who keeps banging away even in old age for a running back, and just never seems to give up.

Regardless, we should be starting Thigpen the last 2 games to see how he can do.

I agree with the OP. Great to beat the Jets but aside from that we were just as bad as we were last week against the Browns. Just that the Jets were worse. Look, even Buffalo beat Cleveland. We have no offense. None. I don't know why we can't seem to figure it out. Last time it really worked was with Fiedler, and that's because Shula's influence was still strong. Remember a guy named Cam C

Point is, we need a new oC, not a new HC or QB. If the ownershi

Unlike some on this board I'm not willing to throw the whole team under the bus. We've performed reasonably well on defense and we've even seemed to pick it up on special teams. But week in and week out, aside from occasional flukes, we've stunk it up on O. It changes the whole game. We get out to a lead on Cleveland, suddenly Delhomme starts having to force the ball, they get under pressure.

OK, somewhat of a meaningless stat since obviously they're thrown to in different situations, but: Yards/target Hartline: 8.9 Fasano: 8.7 Bess: 7.6 Marshall: 6.9 I guess you could go ahead and make a receiver "rating" for that matter, penalizing for drops, interceptions, etc.. But it doesn't take account of how they were covered. (Or how they WOULD be covered if Mars

It could be close since we have the easy part of our schedule now and the Jets and NE have it tougher. But the Dolphins have been the same team all year long. We're able to grind out wins against bad teams, pumping in the field goals, and if we get a lucky day on defense where we don't give up huge returns and/or big passing plays, we can beat semidecent teams. It's not going to be enough. We

I have to say I agree the Pats are showing how it's done. They bring in Moss and a previous Dolphins player, and set records for touchdowns and nearly go undefeated. We bring in Marshall and sit at the bottom of the NFL in offense. They send Moss and countless other good players away over the years, and continue at the top of the division. It's pointless to go on talking about players. Pla

Um, back to the Phins.. I've got a good feeling about this one. We've taken enough damage in Baltimore recently and I think this is our time. The conservative thing is going to help us -- keep down the turnovers that have killed us before. We'll get ahead early, and Flacco will be exposed. Phins 30, Baltimore 10.

I agree, Henne simply does not step up the way a Brady, an Elway, a Peyton Manning, even a Roethlisberger does. And the refs did give the game to Pittsburgh. BUT we did not deserve to win with that kind of special teams play, and with 5 field goals. I'm sorry, if we don't have the intestinal fortitude to go for it on 4th down and live with the consequences one way or another AT LEAST once out

Seriously, drop the wildcat unless we go back to how we used to run it, with the QB in there. Deception and an off-balance defense were what made it work, not having an extra blocker. And we have GOT to make progress on red-zone efficiency, whatever it takes. We had 3 field goals and 2 TDs, the Jets 4 TDs and one field goal. An offense that lives on field goals needs to gain more than twice

Regarding the play-calling, I think you'll still see conservative against the Jets. Their secondary is still strong w/o Revis and we'll rely on forcing mistakes by Sanchez and controlling damage from the run just like with Minnesota. Against the Pats though, it will be a different story.

Only time will tell if Minny was really a challenge or they're just bad this year. BUT it seems pretty clear these Fins are willing to play 4 quarters. At least the D is. The O did some decent work in the first half of the third, but was gone for the fourth. I don't have a problem at all with Henne being cautious if our D continues to play like it does, but they need to at least show up in th

The Baltimore loss was not solely or even mostly on Pennington's shoulders. Taking that team, that receiving core, that D in '08 as far as he did, there's no question that Pennington has what it takes to be a superbowl QB. We're not sitting him this year because he can't do it. We're sitting him because Henne has potential, he's grown and shown he can grow further, and he's that much closer to

It's a tough call.. Henne needs to grow, and his best chance to grow is to be in there. That's what the team is going with. But.. we'll know better once the season starts but my feeling is Pennington gives us better overall chances of success THIS season. I understand that we need to look to the future, and that Pennington is injury prone and less good on the long ball and all that, but it ju

Pennington led the NFL in completion percentage, trailed all 16-game starters in interceptions excepting Jason Campbell (1 fewer, with 6 fewer touchdown passes), and was second (to Rivers) in QB rating. It's great to have a great QB again, but what's even nicer is that Pennington did this with one of the lowest number of attempts of starters who played 16 games. After what, 30 years, we final
