“He hasn’t really proven anything to me while I played with him and now being on the other side, looking down as a fan, he’s not impressing me, either,” Crowder said.
Okay. I'm no Chad Henne apologist. Far from it. I have serious doubts whether Henne will ever be a starting caliber NFL QB. However, it's funny coming from a player that was far from an elite talent himself. Crowder never "impressed me" when he lamely attempted to cover a tight end or tried to get to the QB on a blitz. If he wants to rip the people that cut him, I guess I understand. I think ripping on someone that was your teammate literally weeks ago, is kind low rent. At least in my opinion.
At least Channing had some personality in locker-room. In this case he's just stating the obvious – and I’m sure the consensus opinion of any player who’s been around for a few years. The players know if a dude has game. You’d be hard pressed to find any player who’s “impressed” with Henne’s chops. LOL
Crowder will find his future life calling in talk radio. This is the kind of thing that will make people want to listen to him.
I for one can't stand about 90% of sports geeks on the air; I'd much rather listen to former athletes themselves (the articulate ones, that is). All the more reason why I miss Jim Mandich, and why I enjoy listening (on occasion) to Kim Bokamper, Keith Sims, etc. I will have to make room for Crowder's show too to give him a listen.

You guys have missed the point of my post. I don't deny that Crowder is accurate in his comments. I question the propriety of him making them. What was his purpose? Would Chad Pennington make these type of comments? I would guess he knows more about the QB position than Crowder. Plus, he's a media guy now, but I'll bet that he will take the high road when making commentary about his ex-teammates. The timing of Crowder's comments showed a lack of class, whether accurate or not. Also, at the end of the day, how many game changing plays did Crowder make for the Fins? I seem to remember that during Crowder's tenure, we lost some games when the defense couldn't make a stop late in the fourth quarter. People who live in glass houses....

True as that might be on its own merits, the question for us as fans concerned with the best possible performance this season is more whether this is an accurate glimpse of the QB from someone on the inside who would not have spoken were he still on the team.
Translation: We should be more concerned about what he says than whether he should have said it.
I don't know, I guess I just like the way Zach walked away versus how Crowder did it. Zach had every right to be mad at how he was ushered out of the door of a franchise that he gave his all to (to the detriment of his health). Zach Thomas was, is, and always will be a class act. No aspersions cast at any of his ex-teammates. He said he couldn't sign with the pats because he would always consider himself a Dolphin. No way Crowder could have been like Zach on the field. He had no where near the talent, heart, or dedication of a Zach Thomas. Crowder should at least have tried to be more like him off of it.

RESPONSE: Again, that is an entirely separate point. It's like someone burglarizing an office to see what he can steal and learning of plans of the company to release a deadly virus.
You don't condone burglary but you damn sure are grateful that the burglar exposed the plan.
That's only true if the burglar is the only one that knows about the deadly virus. Truth be known, Henne's inconsistency is obvious to anyone that has seen him play. I doubt that Crowder's statements are going to make one iota's bit of difference to whom starts and how Sparano handles the QB situation now or in the future. The only thing that the comment accomplished is to get Crowder's name some air time on the internet, TV, and the radio. I just don't think it was worth it.

RESPONSE: Do you realize that ONLY WITH that above post, Fins72, you finally came to discuss the question I originally said was important which is I would be more concerned about WHAT he said than the fact he said it. You don't think much of his opinion. Fine.
It kind of also reveals that you yourself, despite what poor taste in which you think the comment was made, just don't agree with his opinion.
Fine.
No problem. There are many people on this board who feel like you. I used to be one of them up to seeing the first pre-season game.
But maybe the reason it took SO MANY POSTS to get you to forget about the etiquette of Crowder saying it and your disagreement with my posts saying that there was value in his relevation is just that you so STRONGLY DISAGREE with the merits of what Crowder said, that your mind justified attacking his position by attacking the fact that he had the bad taste to say it.
Good! So you're just one of the many people on this board who are defending Henne. No problem. You have a right to your opinion, just don't try to hide it in attacking the fact that he as a former teammate said it publicly. That is only about a one second consideration for most people.
You misinterpret my opinion. I'm in no way defending Henne. I don't believe that he is our answer at QB. Whether he's the best option given the QBs that are on this roster, this year... that question has yet to be answered. I was as angry as anyone when Ireland chose to do nothing about improving the QB position (something he had said he would do). Whether Crowder was right or wrong in his statements are really irrelevant. He didn't make them out of some altruistic desire to better the team or help Sparano make the right decision. He chose to s**t on a former teammate just to get attention. That's the kind of behavior you'd expect from a Terrell Owens type. I guess Crowder is no better. I felt bad when I first heard he was cut... now, I just say good riddance.
