I cant help but feel a bit sad about Ricky parting ways with the Dolphins... It got me to thinking was Ricky the greatest Dolphins since Dan Marino... In my book it is hard to put someone ahead of him. If anything Zach and Ricky belong sharing the title... I know Ricky messed up and all, But he was the most exciting football player to watch on the football field in aqua and orange since Marino... thatis no doubt..

Zach hands down. He never, ever quit on us.

Ricky did, which makes him less than Zach.

no, not even close. Ricky had 1 great year, 1 good year, and then was a headache far in excess of his value ever since.
The best was JT, then Zach.

Ricky was what made me go to football games amd watch live. For 3-4 years watching Ricky run was like watching micheal Jordan play basketball... Zach I understand, bu neither were as amazing to watch as Ricky

Great in the Marino sense? I would say the we are still waiting. Zach and JT were really good but I am still hesitate to call them great.

Ricky could had been a hall of famer easily . He had all the talent in the world but his head wasnt screwed straight.....

He could had been barry sanders like or marshall faulk like. Too bad his talents didnt developed fully because of his addiction.

Imagine what could had been.

He is not even close to JT or Zach status. Not even close. All he had was one good year thats it.

Zach. No contest.

I'm glad Rick came back after flaking out on us and had a couple good seasons. I thought he wouldn't be able to come back and produce, but I'm glad I was wrong. But he's nowhere near being in the same class as Zach Thomas.

Perhaps he should have asked: was Ricky the Dolphin's best OFFENSIVE player since Marino? Jake Long may still win, but at least the comparison would make more sense.

Man, I find myself agreeing with you day after day! Long Live #54!!

That said I don't blame Ricky for quiting. I would too if I had to work for Dave Wanastadt.

Ricky was the greatest at his position, one that is the most coveted in the entire NFL... Ricky, sure Zach was a btter teammate, etc. But I dont think any year Zach was ever considered the best LB in the NFL... Surtain and Madison were great, but come on. Ricky won the rushing title as a Dolphin.... That is the greatest single achievement a Miami Dophins player has had since Marinos 84 season. JT's defensive player of the year is the only that can stack up to it..
Ricky was the only player to display that greatness since Marino...

Does that count the seasons he sat out , smoked Dope in the India mountains , or broke his leg in Canada? Sorry, The great players are there day in and day out, Busted it out. How many Pro Bowls did Ricky play in? As good a player as he was, He turned out to be a major dissapointment for a guy who cost one team ALL of their frafts picks plus a few more, and another team 4 who really only got 1 playoff appearance out of him.

Zach Thomas. Jason Taylor was a great player, but I think ZT is a hall of famer, and one of the best who ever played his position. He was DAMN good, and if not for being active during the same time as Ray Lewis, would almost certainly have been considered the best MLB in the NFL.

First team all pro five times. That's pretty amazing.

The image of ZT with bloodstains on his jersey, skinned elbows, and turf stuck to his facemask is pretty much the image of post Dolphins football I'd like to remember. We haven't had much else, really.
