let's say the Fins find a way to get him for a reasonable deal, maybe a 5th rounder and a restructured contract, maybe 4yr/24mil, and Orton comes in here, and does not excel, we go 7-9 again.
Now what? Who is held accountable? All these same "fans"/"writers" will be the first to blast the front office, but they definitely won't blame themselves. Much like all the fans that were crying for Culpepper. We got him, what next? He was terrible. And those same fans distance themselves from that move, citing just another stupid decision by those bozos upstairs. Suddenly, they wanted Brees.
And how about if Jon Beck does well in Washington? Unlikely, I agree, but what if? Dumb fans/writers will now wonder why the Fins did not have the foresight to keep him, even though everyone labeled him garbage.
Funny how perception works.
I am excited for another year of Dolphins football! That's all I can say.

I don't understand the fuss over Orton. At best, he would be a minor upgrade over what we have. In spite of that stellar TD/INT ratio, many of his other stats are lousy, and man Broncos' fans would love to see him go.
ESPN is going to be unveiling a new QB rating system this weekend. They are trying to factor in game situations, decisions, taking sacks, throwing the ball away, etc. Below is a rough breakdown of what the 2010 rankings would have looked like. Now, considering one guy had been in the league 6 years and was playing for an aggressive offensive coach, and one guy is in his 3rd year, and playing for ultra conservative coach, where is the huge upgrade?
•Top tier: Brady, Peyton Manning, Matt Ryan, Michael Vick, Rodgers and Drew Brees.
•Well above average: Josh Freeman, Eli Manning and Philip Rivers.
•Above average: Ben Roethlisberger, Tony Romo, Joe Flacco, Matt Schaub, David Garrard and Kerry Collins.
•Around average: Matt Cassel, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Mark Sanchez, Carson Palmer, Colt McCoy, Kyle Orton and Jon Kitna.
•Below average: Shaun Hill, Jason Campbell, Jay Cutler, Matt Hasselbeck, Chad Henne, Donovan McNabb, Sam Bradford and Alex Smith.
•Poor: Derek Anderson, Brett Favre and Jimmy Clausen.
Pff doesn't tell the whole story on a qb. It doesn't mention the dumb turnovers at key points in the game...when the game is on the line or when we need the momentum.
That "stellar" td/int ratio would be very successfull on the team this staff is putting together.
Miami as a team was much better than denver last year. Denver sucked big time and Orton was one of very few bright spots. The opposite could be said for Miami. We at least had a defense.
Orton had something like 8 games over 295 yards and 6 with multiple tds..
Ortons comp. % was affected big time by Denver receivers getting shut down by great corners...ala Namdi and Revis...he had most games well over 60% but bad numbers against namdi revis and rodgers cromartie....
He was at 41% against NY and Oak.
I watched every Miami game and many Denver games as he was my ff qb. Henne doesn't seem to have "it"...I see it in Orton and believe he will take the next step in his key 6th year.
He has always been a guy that ends up coming off the bench to take over for a sub par big name coach favorite and usually responds positively.
Prediction...Henne will play better this year bc of an improved team all around him but will still never have the ability to carry a team when needed.
