This is a good move. And it's a creative way to add more of a pass rush. Burnett had 6 sacks last season. Obviously, that's a big upgrade from Crowder in that area. Burnett can cover, too, which means Nolan can free up Dansby to blitz more often.
BEST offseason move so far. So glad to be done with the Mouth that roared. Huge Upgrade. With this added help or DB's can concentrate on that back field more and help shut down the passing game and those Big Plays. HUGE. I'm Feeling all warm and fuzzy inside for the first time in a long while !! Just get us a decent Arm behind center and we are on the way!!

It seems we are paying him double Crowders deal. Crowder was suppose to make 2.5 this year the final year on a 4 year worth just under ten million. Burnett reports are a 4 or 5 year worth 21 million..
If he is an upgrade it is worth it.... I will hold judgement until we see the team play... When Crowder was out in the past we struggled wit the run, if we dont struggle with the run without Crowder all is well in my book! If we do, then different story...
Crowders deal was only around 3-5 million guaranteed. Like Isaid it was not a wash, we are paying him double, which is worth it, if Burnett doesnt miss a third of the season like Crowder did last year with his groin injury and plays at least at Crowders level at stopping the run. Going into the season worried about Crowders health again was a legitimate problem for the regime, I understand and respect the move, if they solved it..

Crowder's cap number for 2011 was $5M. Without knowing the details of Burnett's contract, we can't say for sure it's a wash. But, with $10M guaranteed, that is likely his first year base salary and his signing bonus combined. I would guess that his cap hit this year will be around the same $5M that Crowder was.

IF this is the case, then Armando statement of saying it saves us 5 million on the cap, isnt correct, is it?

Agreed that the base salary is normally low but that is because of the signing bonus money. And the siging bonus money gets prorated, but it normally takes a fairly hard hit the first year of the deal. Look up others contracts, you will see that normally in the first year of a new deal it is a large cap hit... Crowders largest hit against the cap was 2009 the year of his lowest base in what was his new deal back then. I guess it all depends on how creative the GM's and lawyers want to be with the cap... I am not a fan of dead money. We paid it on grove and Gibril... But nothing like the cowboys, they got what 20 million at least in dead money this year.. Dead money destroys team

Burnett was drafted by the Cowboys when Ireland was there. He went to San Diego, where they moved him inside, and he fluorished. He had 95 tackles, 6 sacks, and 2 INT last season.

Good so he is an upgrade over crowder. Not bad....seems like anybody would be an upgrade over crowder ...like i said he ok and made a few plays but he wasnt a player that turned a game around with his work..
