Maybe the owners can take a page from some of the bosses in his line of business and pay illegal aliens from south of the border to suit up and play.

Would not that be exciting.

Chyrenne: I'm not sensing that common sense that you must have needed to survive on the street as a cop.

Thats because your not using common sense to make this argument. I've been mis quoted here before and your taking things out of left feild and trying to make a square Peg fit into a Circle hole.

Of course the better players deserve MORE money. Thats called "COMPETITION". That has ZERO amount to do with the argument at hand. I'm talking about asshole free agents getting to do as they may. Even Ricky Williams who I have praised here and want to come back , screwed us Royally. After quitting he basically got to keep his entire signing Bonus by threatening to file bankruptcy.

Look at The jets CB Darelle Revis. Got his contract, then decided to just shitcan it for more. Twice. had he not lived up to it think he would have given it back?

Andrew Luck has all the signs of being Phenomenol. But what if he isn't? What if he gets a 70 Million contract with a 25 million signing Bonus? What is that Team is us !!? That #1 pick has become a curse because its sink or swim. Its why we havn't had a 1 st round QB since Marino. Its begun to HURT the game and the teams, not help them.

Whats wrong with proving yourself worthy before you get a Big contract? Seeing these young Bucks making $250,000 (Not a bad piece of change for
a 21 Year old BTW). Seeing them play for the Brass ring, THAT would be exciting. Make them earn it , don't give them anything. THATS something I'd want to watch. Agents won't have it though.

And why should the Owners spend MORE for a Veteran Player to retire on? They are big boys. Let THEM put aside a few $$$ like I do every day out of my hard earned paycheck. You can't use common sense to do that , thats your problem. Buy 1 less ferrari and invest it.

This argument is made all of the time and it so exasperating. Is it any more unfair than a team cutting a vet player mid contract because he gets injured, or because makes too much and refuses a paycut? This "sanctity of contract" thing goes both ways. If the players should be excoriated for wanting more money when they outplay their original contract (made a bad deal in hindsight), then so should the owners

So now this is a racist argument? Last time I checked I gave devon Bess as much Kudos as Pat Tillman for being a great grounded person and putting others needs before his. Before you whine that it wasn't about race, look at your little drama story,it could have been told without any mention of race and made the same point. Thats just pathetic bro.

Your right about one thing: NUFF SAID. eye rolling smileythumbs down

You know Berk, this is typical of him and why some people are so harsh on him on the board.

He is more and more reminding me of Mia1. He starts off the thread praising Pat Tillman and I post agreeing with him that there are far too few Pat Tillmans and far too many spoiled athletes.

However, he goes overboard in the later posts, like Mia1 did, and goes off on a tangent and starts saying essentially that no employee should have the right to bargain for his wages.

Then when someone calls him on it, he goes ballistic, and then oddly brings back his original subject of Pat Tillman and tries to say that people who attack the tangent are attacking the original post.

I would have said yesterday that he was just attempting to be clever and win the argument but I am more beginning to think that like Mia1, he just doesn't have the candlepower and just reacts wildly and emotionally without even thinking.

The problem I have is that now to me his purported credentials as a former NYPD policeman just doesn't ring true. As a police officer, you know you are going to have to testify in court. You have to be aware of the issues and not mix up the facts or the allegations.

I don't know. I've tried to give the guy the benefit of the doubt and have winced when people harshly slam him but its getting harder and harder.

Winning an argument should just not be that important to him that he should go ballistic.

Chyrenne. Sorry if I insulted you. Not my intent and have enjoyed discussing with you rather then fighting. But your style of debate is just not for me. I speak from my heart , its honest , and I'm not trying to change no ones mind.

Phinsfan2.......Your cheap shot doesn't surprise me. At least when I was a Police officer I played by the rules.I was held and acted to a higher standard. Way to moderate! eye rolling smiley

I don't think you insulted me at all. I thought you completely changed the subject and if I said Insult, by that I meant you attacked a position I was not taking and attacked it in harsh and unfair terms.

Whatever Mr. Moderator. Way to lead by example. thumbs down
Personally I couldn't give a shit. My points stand about the players. I hope this co$t$ the douchebags and their agents a Ton.

Thank God for people like Mr Tillman. Thank God for the Police (even the dumb ones). Life without the NFL would suck. Life without THEM would be impossible.

Perhaps, wouldn’t be the first time I was wrong.

Majority white owners vs. majority black athletes.

A gilded class affect, not uncommon in extremist rhetoric.

Union busting, “greedy” agents, authoritarian-hero complexes, it could be obvious where this is coming from.

But, I may be wrong of course.

I kinda agree with seadawgs assumption, whenever someone's main beef with the players includes their jewelry or rims, I tend to think it has racial overtones, I've never heard anyone complain about a white trash player blowing his money on expensive cowboy hats or a set of 60" tires for his pick-up. I wouldn't say its on par with a pointy white hat, but it still hints of a touch of racism IMO.
