I love Shula, but he needs to STFU. Unless he wants to come in evaluate and HELP the team, pissing on everyone who comes here after him is not a positive thing.

Ya gotta love it. It's the battle of the Titanic EGO's!

Bottom line:

the Don is still the Dolphin Godfather!

Yes...but the real difference is this; Don Shula coaching the very same team we had the past two years would have a winning record.

Shula would have provided a system and a mentality that would have allowed the players to excel more than we have seen from the Trifecta.

Just how much better than 7-9 is the $64,000 question.

Well, the Don was smart enough to know having a a good QB is good luck. And therefore, he wouldn't coach this current roster. It would be BAD luck!

Ya Think? The Man hadn't won a championship in over 20 yrs by the time he was asked to leave. It may be me, but I get the feeling he kinda enjoys the Dolphins NON success since he left. We won't hear a peep out of him until the failed person leaves. Then he chimes in with....oh I'm SO dissapointed. STFU. He's no better, if not for 1 lucky draft in 1983 with Dan Marino he would have been long forgotten. His defense sucked for over 20 yrs with No running game to speak of. Do I even have to name that POS defensive cordinator he stuck with all the way to 1995? (Olivadotti). He's no better. Lets all stop pretending he's some sort of God.

I really wish Don would have stuck to coaching. He needed a GM to handle personnel, including the coaching staff. Olivadotti needed to go, and Shula's last few drafts were horrible. But, the man could coach!

In his PRIME the Don was an elite NFL Terrorist!

He raped and pillaged other teams and destroyed their hopes and dreams.

Nowadays the Don is feeble and meek and doesn’t know how NOT to speak.

He’s like an old Golden Retriever sitting in the corner randomly barking and pawing at his food dish. Pour the Don some nice gummy bears and just smile about it…

Don shoul enjoy his retirement. He was pushed aside for a reason. When he retired he was not one of the amongst the best coaches on the league.

I am a little tired of the voices from the 72 & 73 years that's ancient history.

And most of all bignasty fish........He raped the jets a few times.

So whatever he says its cool with me.

Oh and parcels abandoned the dolphins to their own fate.

Yes he turned the thing around i thank him for that....but then when the going got tough he left via free agency...Never apressiated that from the big tuna.

I got nothing against him but i cant appresiate that.

yeah, I *think* --- Ken didn't say SHula would have won the championship with last year's roster; he said he'd have posted a winning record for the season. And I agree. Take a look at Shula's history, and you'll see that in all of his seasons as a coach, he only had a losing record twice.

Now, I'm aware that most everyone on this board HATES posting a winning record, because that means the draft position won't be as good the following year. Shula coached in an era when more people cared about winning the actual game they were playing on the field, more than next year's draft. And as a result he is far and away the winningest coach in history.

I do thank JJ for his JTs Zachs, surtains madisons DGardners and so on. He gave us a above solid defense....

But IMHO you can compare JJ to shula.

Just my 2 cents.

I'm pretty sure he IS enjoying his retirement. He's free to sit around and say anything he wants.

I'm sorry you're tired of the voices from 72 and 73--I hope that doesn't mean you are happy Jim Mandich is gone. He was the ULTIMATE voice of that era because he was a broadcaster and talk show host after his playing career was over. I personally can't get enough of hearing from these guys.

We can learn a lot from our history, and the best way to shut these guys up rather than wait for them all to pass away is for us to win another championship! Until then we deserve to get lectured by the old guys who were the last ones to get the job done!

IMHO Most of us still do including me. We just got used to looking forward to next years draft.

Maybe that trend will change again and we can look forward to the playoffs instead of Next years draft.

All I know is that when Shula was here we were a perennial playoff team and the team to beat in the division.

Colts Pats Jets were perennial losers and with the exception of the Jim Kelly years so were the Bills.

Now everything is almost opposite.

I for one would rather make it to the playoffs every year and lose than be a laughing stock and be hoping for a high draft pick.

He took us to the SB with David Woodley for cripes sake. Albeit in a strike season but ....

That being said I think Parcels has done a good job at rebuilding this team. We are only a few pcs short.

They took a chance on Henne and he hasn't been the franchise qb that EVERYONE here thought he would be.

They did it right...they built the lines then behind gthem and now Ireland is adding skill positions.

They put a lot into hoping Pennington could stay healthy as insurance to Henne....as there is no such thing as a sure thing in the draft....especially at qb.

Time to go get Palmer.
