This is a moderated phorum for the CIVILIZED discussion of the Miami Dolphins. In this phorum, there are rules and moderators to make sure you abide by the rules. The moderators for this phorum are JC and Colonel.
The new additions to the Dolphins' offense via the draft will be eye catching to a veteran QB. If I'm any QB on the move this off-season Miami looks like an attractive destination. Heres why:
The offensive line will be one of the best in the league. With Jake Long covering the blindside in addition to Pouncey, Incognito and Carey there will be no gripes about QB protection or run blocking.
Brandon Marshall and Co. Regardless of last year's production, Brandon Marshall is a monster and you have D. Bess, one of the best slot WR in the league, at your disposal.
If I am Carson Palmer, McNabb, Orton or whoever I say to myself: Miami is an attractive option.
Bulger, Hasselbeck, Volek are proven and better than Henne, but only have 1-2 years. Last year henne sucked , and could not do anything in the red zone. Hopefully they give Thigpen a look or move him for a Matt Flynn or Orton. Buffalo was interested last year
Did anyone hear the discussion of John beck being the starter in Washington?
If we want a one year stopgap player then Hasselbeck is the best choice.
Flynn would be OK based only upon what we saw last year when he got to play....but he'd be far from a certainty.
Palmer's attitude sucks.
McNabb...no freaking way.
Kolb...if we think he's our guy going forward then we should do it...but IMHO the price tag is simply too high.
Young...no freaking way.
Bulger...no.
Volek...no.
Kitna...no.
Wallace...no.
And as far as John Beck goes, I hope he steps up and proves everyone wrong. I think and have always thought he got shafted by short sighted fans and coaches here in Miami.
If his attitude is that he wants to call his own plays on the field and ignore what the coaching staff says then that would be a GOOD THING in terms of our team.
I think we have to go on the assumption that Henne will be penciled in (again) as the starter. MAYBE Thigpen will get a legit opportunity to win the starting job, but the vet we sign will probably be just insurance in case something happens to the other 2. With that in mind, Billy Volek may be the best choice.
On the other hand, since we weren't willing to gamble on a QB in the draft, I wouldn't mind giving Vince Young a shot. Who knows? New coach and team...may change him?

I would trade thigpen for some tree beans. Then grow a tree. The tree would probably be a better qb than thigpen. Please.

We need 3 QBs. Pennington is out..and that other guy, can't remember his name, won't make it out of the lockerroom in training camp.
Thiggy isn't exactly an experienced vet. He's not going to mentor another QB. He doesn't have experience to know how to win a close game down the stretch. That's why I see us keeping Thiggy and Henne at this point and grabbing a vet.
