I loved Jimmy Johnson. Still do. He gave us one of the best defenses this Team has ever had. He was on the right path when he went through some personal loss. When he left he never went to another Team again. I can respect that.

If Parcells retires I don't have a problem with him. I believe he gave his best for 2 yrs and he just doesn't have it anymore. He sucked the Dolphins for an extra $15 million, But thats Huzinga's fault for signing the contract.

If He had went to another Team while still collecting I'd be pissed off and print out a Picture to Piss on.

He replaced one of the highest power offenses in league history with a pedestrian run-run-throw-punt style that effectively wasted Marino's latter years. Just imagine what we could have done if he kept the offense intact and just revamped the defense? I believe we would have won at least one Superbowl, but JJ's ego was too big. He wanted it to be HIS team. He didn't respect Don Shula; he didn't respect Dan Marino. He had no regard at all for the history of the franchise. He wanted to strip it down and rebuild it like he did in Dallas. Problem was, we were an playoff-caliber team already. Dallas was the worst team in the league when he took over. I have very little respect for what JJ did while he was here. Except for a handful of draft picks (Zach, JT, Surtain, Madison) he did very little that was GOOD in my eyes.

Oh, and he also gave us Dave Wannstead. That, in itself, is enough to enshrine him in the Phin Hall of Shame.

Parcells took this team from the worst, and biggest laughing stock in this league to a competitive, hard-nosed team that is only a couple key positions away from Superbowl contender.

Did he make personnel mistakes? Yes.

Are we much better after he left than before he got here? Without a doubt.

Replaced? I don't see that at all. 1996 Dan Marino was wearing a full time knee brace. He still gave his all but to say he was still the Same Dan Marino that ripped apart defenders is a STRETCH. Jimmy Johnson wanted to replace him but wouldn't dare. He respected the shit out of Dan Marino. Had he kept his drive He would have found us a decent replacement at QB and a Runningback. Maybe Dan would have given it another year. But Jimmy built us an incredible defense that was almost as fun to watch as The Offense in the 1980's. Dave Wanstedt? Touch'e. I have no argument for that an agree whole heartedly. He was a hell of a defensive Cordinator though. He was even a decent head coach. But one of the MOST PISS POOR drafters of talent this league has ever seen. Threw away draft picks like they were Candy. Horrible. He had nice hair though.

I agree. He was kicking ass those first 2 yrs. It started getting shakey when Mr. H sold the team. Thats not what he signed up for and you can't blame him.

there are a lot of teams that were 1-15 or close to it and a few years later were in or won the SB. we are far from that. so while I am glad for the 11-5 year, to me it's kind of like what KC did last year---win a bunch of close games against bad teams. and we only did it b/c Bill got lucky with Pennington getting cut. If we had started McNown or Henne that year which we would have otherwise we'd have been 5-11 at best. So unless these next few years show big time improvement, I will say BP was a failure here. Remember we have Ireland and Sporno b/c of him---so even those he's gone this is still "his" baby

We were the worst team in the NFL when Bill was hired. We are now only a couple key pieces away from being a SB contender.

"a couple of pieces": a great or above average QB, RB, C, OG, WR, S, LB.

I am at a crossroad with this guy. He brought in a new phillosophy, but it isnt working.

He drafted some star player's, and busted on many boo boo's.

I want to hate on him, but he did make us better, just he quit on us.

The man quit, when it wasnt exactly what he wanted.

I don't know if I take on a project like rebuilding a team, then I stay untill they make give back to back over .500 season's, playoffs.

Not leave half-way through second year, and well I think if he would have stayed the course for at least through this year, then he would leave a good legacy, if we went to the playoffs.

I guess we will never know, instead he opted out, and left us half rebuilt, being a 7-9 team with a few key component's away from greatness.

So overall he brought in a good core, and quit before he finished the project.

Thank you Parcell's for at least comming in, and pointing the ship in the right direction, too bad you can't weather the storm.

Seriously though........how hard is it to improve a 1-15 team? All his teams improve once he gets there.....I hope so! They all suck!

The major point that you guys are missing is that, yes, we were 1-15....and we were still getting worse!


Sabans and Camerons drafts were horrible, there FA signees were horrible and the FO was getting worse.

We were getting worse and worse, Parcells saved this franchise.

parcells took over a crap team with a ton of cap space and the #1 overall pick in the draft. we had no where to go but up. But he was never able to solve the QB problem and we still have as big a question mark there as when he took over. that alone makes his tenure mediocre at best.

History we will remeber Parcells in Miami for that 1st year,that is just a fact. That year is in the record books like it or not, the rest of the legacy is still yet to be written. if we go and win a superbowl in the next 3-4 years , he will still get credit for laying the foundation.

he's a push in my mind..yes we went from 1-15 to 11-5 but imo we were th ebest 1-15 team in nfl history and one of the weakest 11-5 as well(and thruth be told how many nfl caliber coaches cant turn @1-15 ..where else is there to go)..i guess you have to give him credit for at least temporarily and slightly changing the team attitude and creating a (somewhat ) winning attitude...byt he bailed(contract bs notwithstanding)... he bailed because he felt the team peaked and he wanted to get out before it started to tank to not get away without tarnishign what he did..he gave us tony s(sorry tony love ya but ur no b belicheck)who imo just isnt quite up to nfl head coach(hated saying that)...appreciate the change in momentuem he gave us but sour taste for not followin gthru(pretty weak imo esp considering how he carries himself and his expectation of his players..one might even refer to him as SHE imo fo rbailing when it got tough)

He rebuilds the coaching staff, follwed by solid drafts,finds a few diamonds in the rough, and adds key veteran FA's the whole time the panicing fans and owners scream and cry saying we are on the wrong path and there are not enough results. Parcells then leaves his new young, strong team to stand on its own, the whole time fans scream and panic and focus on the fact that he is leaving and label him a quitter. After he leaves, the team starts to gel and gain experience and becomes successful while the whole time fans cry and whine about how Parcells didn't do anything and the fact he left.

This season and next we will view the finished model that Parcells created and won't cry and whine anymore. He will be remembered as the guy who rebuilt the Miami Dolphins.

I don't know. Dallas kind of fell apart when Parcells left.

How he will be remembered is the guy who set a iffy foundation that improved a team to 7-9 before he left.

Thats pretty much it. It's not his show anymore from here on out its irelands, and Sparano's hell that will prob end after this year so?
