Are you kidding???????
For the rest of you...................Who the hell do we play in the first round??????????
I wouldn't start just yet.
Today we looked very suspect in a few phases of our game.
Kick/punt Coverage teams - D
Run defense - C-
Pass rush - C
Run blocking - C
The Seahawks came damn close to winning this game, and arguably should have.
I'm still blown away on how improved we are over last year. I just don't think we're playoff caliber just yet.

A few things about the Seahawks...
1. Seattle is better than their record indicates. They had a tough injury to their starting QB and backup QB in one game and were left with Charlie Frye driving the boat for a home game they should have won. They have had to go cross country to play the Giants, Bills, and Tampa. Not easy games, and a statistical disadvantage with the cross country flight.
2. Senica Wallace is going to be a good QB, and will probably be the man in Seattle in the next year or two.
3. Seattle plays a 4-3 defense. Our offensive line has sucked against that alignment, and I don't think is an accident that our offense has looked anemic against the other 4-3 teams we've played - Jest, Zona, Texans, and Baltimore. I think part of the problem here is that the 2 rookies don't practice it enough and it eats 'em both alive - particularly on pass blocking.
4. Seattle is one of the better prepared and better coached teams in the NFL.
This was a game where the match-ups didn't favor us. But when we needed it, we had what it took to win.

If CP's first bad game resulted in a win anyway? I'll take that!!

Yeah cats were hatin when I was sayin we can get a bye, and the way the afc is wide open i believe that if we can beat the teams we are supposed to beat then we can make a superbowl run.
FYI pennington played well, he threw a pick to the house, hey it happens, otherwise he played consistent as he always does.

I was going to make a comment involving monkeys on this one, but I'm going to stop doubting my team. You never know WHAT will happen.

This post won't be popular but No. I'm happy the team is winning and I am happy that we are seeing some growth but we are not yet a good team. This team needs to lose a few more games and get another good draft along with some big gains in free agency. Then we can talk about the playoffs...all winning will do right now is hurt the overall quality of the players on the team.
I'm not suggesting that we start tanking games but we need the things mentioned above. Losing a few more games and assuring a better draft position will assist in getting there.

yeah i never got a chance to ask if you have fully recovered from the those monkeys flying out of your butt. Obviously I was happy when we were beating the patsies but to think of the monkeys coming out of your butt while it was happening...ouch ouch.

Lot of fiber helps keep the monkeys at bay. Parcells/Sparano Super Bran Flakes!

Call it whatever you want Ghotirule but it is the surest way to a better roster....of course (like always) good picks have to be made. I can delay my gratification for another seaon if it ensures the TEAM gets better in the process.

It has already gotten better. Way better. And this team will get even better next year. Free agents would actually want to come play for the phins since they know this team will be in the playoffs next year. Take that to the bank.
Oh yeah and the tuna been in the background silently running the show doesn't hurt either.

I agree the team is a lot better but it isn't "there" yet. A worse year end record would only help the process.
The point I'm making is that top notch pass rushers and elite corner backs don't grow on trees and are much harder to get as the picks get lower. It's also much harder to get that game changer at WR or that take your head off linebacker that can still drop into coverage and do it well enough.
I'm simply looking beyond this season and want the best in 2009. The few players difference between a higher series of picks and a lower series could make the difference between simply making the playoffs and dominating the conference given the progress we have already made...provided we make good picks that is.
Don't mean to be a wet blanket, but we're going to have to put away the teams we are supposed to beat better to make any kind of run at the playoffs.
1st on the list is better tackling. Seattle should have never been in the game. we gave them so many gains for firsts aftewr we had them pinned in, but didn't make the tackle.
Ditto on returns, and worst tackling seemed to happen on 3rd down.
IMHO:
Must get better to sniff the playoffs, else we get edged out by a loss that should be a win.

Hey ghotirule, I did say this too...provided we make good picks that is. (ref Detroit and New England)
No matter where you pick your staff has to make the correct selections and have quite a bit of luck. But, I'll say it again (ad nausium) The chance of getting the blockbuster player diminishes the farther down the order you pick....unless you have the things mentioned above...in spades.

Sure a worse record "could" help but who in their right mind roots for their team to lose when they are in contention for a playoff spot? That just retarded.
If we were 2-8 or 1-9, I could "maybe" understand but after the draft we just had, I have little doubt that we will pluck talent from wherever we land. We got a starting guard in round 6 and a starting DE in round 3 for cryin out loud.
We currently have a starting "knock your head off" safety from round 6, a starting center from round 3, a starting WR who was undrafted and we had two TE's that are starting for other teams that were taken in rounds 4 & 5 and two Hall of Famers taken in rounds 3 and 5. We only have 7 out of 22 players that were 1st round picks.
It's not all about where you take them but how you develope them and how they fit the system as well. Look at NE's past drafts...they are nothing special individually but they find a way to play as a team. With the exception of Wilfork, Warren, Brady and Seymour they are pretty plain Jane...and that is only 4 players over the past eight years....three if you discount Brady since he was a 6th rounder.
Besides losing is a hard habit to break and we are FINALLY starting to figure out how to win. Why would you want to mess with that?
