Hey, I can just call em as I see em. I listened to that tape intently. I heard no Black gangsta wanna-be language.

Moreover, since I am involved in the criminal prosecution system here in L.A., I do have a lot of familiarity with Black gang members and how they sound.

This kid is not even close.

Someone said his dad does not sound like him. Hey, the Kid is what between 20 and 22? When I was that age, I did not sound like my dad who was a physics teacher. But I didn't sound like a hip-hopper either.

Young people just don't sound like old people until they get older themselves.

Sorry folks, I am just not hearing it.

You can call me old or maybe even a hip-hopper myself (LOL), I just don't hear it on that tape.

Is there another tape?

Hey. Why don't you guys conduct the same experiment. Get a friend, play the link. Don't tell him in advance what to expect or what you think Mallet sounds like.

Like my friend, for all your friends will know, you are asking them to critique the guy's passing skills, knowledge of football, or how smart he is.

After showing the link, ask them what impression they got.

After they answer, if they don't bring up the ghetto way of speaking thing, ask if they got the impression Mallet was trying to sound like an urban hip-hopper.

Report your results on this board.

Chyren,

Google this:

"Ryan Mallett talks black"

Then see what comes up. Trust me, I am not the only one who thinks this.

Even if he does try to act "black" whats the big deal? At one time in my early 20's I thought cowboy boots with a white button down shirt and bolo tie was the "look" to score chicks........how do you think that worked out for me? The drugs/drinking is something that would scare me off, a white kid in his early 20's trying to act "black" wouldn't.

Phinfans,
I agree, Ireland is thorough, I am just thinking that Irleland, wouldnt see much upside in talking to Long. Sources bias are not all that important when gathering information. Being that Ireland is thorough, he would be thorough enough to realize that Longs information would be worthless. Mallet had issues at Michigan, the way he talks about Michigan is not very positive, Long's best friend on the team and from College days, is Henne, the guy that Ireland would be talking of replacing. That would put Long in a bad spot with Chad Henne.

This offseason, we have a new offense, and a lockout where you have to rely on Henne, to learn the new offense, and install the offesne to the rest of the coaches with out coaches at all. Henne has team captain and best friend Jake Long helping him do the install.
They didnt do anything to jeaopardize that IMO. Since the information gathered wouldnt be that much, from a time when Mallet had problems, and a likley Bias from Long in wanting to protect his best buddy and QB.
I am going to stick with my conclusions that Ireland passed on Long's feeling on this one.
If the offseason were different, meaning the players and staff were allowed to communicate easily, then I would guess he would have talked to him at the right time.

I totally understand what you are saying, and I actually agree. My only point with the way Mallett is acting is in the situation he was in.

Why in the world would he act like somebody he is not in front of Jon Gruden while being filmed for a segment on Sportcenter.

I cant see Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Dog Killer, Vince Young, Tony Romo, Aaron Rodgers, Jason Cambell, or any other starting QB act like that.

In the Navy I was accepted for being me, and yeah not everyone liked me, but I could give a rats a.. and I had, still have a great time beIG ME.

I just think it's sad that people arnt taught to be themselves, and stop acting like somone else.

Thats why I have the upmost respect for alot of nerds. What you see with them is what you get.
