LOL!! smileys with beer

I have no clue how his last name is spelled, but I know for sure that his first name is not spelled like the part of your body that is enclosed in your dome piece and is the center of the human nervous system.

The play was a "check with me" play. The offense calls two plays, a run and a pass. They get to the line, the QB reads the defense, and then makes the call based on what he sees. People have put this on Henne, but it's not on him. Would Dan Marino have said "F- the coach, I'm throwing the ball"? Yes, he would have. But, Henne is not Dan Marino. He's a guy trying to hang on to his job. So, he read the defense, and made the right call. The issue here is the playcall. If you want your QB to pass on 3rd and 8, you don't call a "check with me" play. Because on 3rd and 8, the defense is going to be playing pass, which means you are going to call the run. It is a dumb, dumb playcall, and one that shows how ridiculously conservative the coaching staff was.

Remember this is the same coaching staff that wouldn't throw a hail mary at the end of the first half against Green Bay because the week before, Green Bay intercepted a Hail Mary, and "almost" ran it back for a score. This is who you have coaching Chad Henne, and that must be factored in.

One of the more impressive things I've seen in college football was how Chad Henne came in as a true freshman, and played great, right from day one. Imagine that, an 18 year old kid going from high school ball to playing at the Big House, in front of 110,000 fans. This coaching staff is responsible for coaching the confidence and aggressiveness out of Chad Henne. You heard Jason Taylor say it after the season, how they had Henne fearing even throwing an incompletion. It doesn't matter who we bring in at QB for a youngster. If they coach him the way Henne was handled, he won't play well.

I agree, Henne has gotten horrible coaching. I wish he had enough moxie to rise above it, but it seems like he doesn't.

Wow, Mallet actually smoked gangi with Snoop Dog! The only thing cooler then that is smoking with Willie Nelson.

I say we get him tanked and loaded and then send him to honor the New Nick Saban Statue!!

Thanks, Dolfanmark, where was the ball located?

But everything you said was spot on.

The only thing I'd add is that in his second year, he still smoked the ball and the receivers couldn't catch it.

Again, Henne tried to compensate by trying to take heat off the ball and thus again worked against himself to try to please.

Bottom line is like Berk says, Marino would have gone public with the fact that the receivers were pansies who couldn't catch a hot ball but with Clayton and Duper, he didn't have to.

I want to say they were around the 25 yard line for that playcall. It's just, if you don't want the run called, don't make that particular call. Go shotgun with an empty backfield. Oh, well, it fits with our philosophy of not spreading out the defense.

One of my favorite things about going to a game when Marino was playing was watching him during pre-game warmups. He would have guys run short little square-ins, and he'd throw the ball so hard that not one guy could catch the ball. He said it got them ready for game speed. Henne doesn't throw the ball any harder than Marino did, or Favre did, or Elway did. And their receivers dealt with it.

On either 25 yard line, it would have been bad not to pass. On the opposition 25 yard line a field goal is assured and you need that first down to preserve the chance for a touchdown. However, like you say, it's the fault of the coaching. I also say AMEN to your point about receivers who can deal with a hot ball.

Sniff sniff. Those were the days huh? A QB that actually Led his team and provided a chance to win every game. We have been wandering gypsies for too long. Absolutely no direction , no identidity. We really need to get a QB with a personanlity and a vision, as well as the skill to play the posistion. Someone for the players to respect , the other teams to have to prepare for. The more I think about it the more I realize Henne just ain't that guy and will never be. He's 2nd string hold the clip board and fill in material. Attitude is a HUGE thing in the NFL. You either have it or you don't . Marino commanded respect his rookie year and never looked back. He grabbed the bull by the horns and never let go. While finding another Marino will probably never happen , we gotta find someone who at the very least commands respect. Not a micro managed puppet . And Yes I believe Saprano is at fault for that As well. Hopefully he has thick skin and takes what the players were saying last season the right way.

A thug, complete idiot sounding QB he is....

I wont name a name, because if I do this thread will get merged.

But, did anybody get a chance to see a certain QB on Sportcenter last night in a segment with Jon Gruden?

The guy talks like a "home boy", he sounds absurdly ridiculous and carries his self like he is a hoodlum.

Terrible. It was very hard to watch. Even Jamie Dukes said he talks like a "brutha from the hood".

Its pretty terrible considering every QB in the NFL is very well spoken for the most part, white, black, asian, latino...I dont know a single QB who sounds like a complete idiot as this certain QB does.

It definitely doesn't sound very professional. I would be interested to find out how it developed. I believe he was raised in a family of educators and his father was a coach. He is probably fairly smart. I also think he is from Texas so I expected his accent to sound Southwestern. He is probably very much into the hip-hop scene and so were his friends.

I was into hip hop too, but I dont talk like that....and even if I did have a slight accent, I would try to clean it up before I went on national television and talk to Jon Gruden.

We didnt call names. This topic could be about any of the QB's. I know you are hiding this topic. This is a legitmate discussion that is very different than the rest of them in this thread.

Definitely don't want a gangsta wanna be as the face of this franchise. It just proves his immaturity IMO. Pass on the Mallet and bring on the Kaep.

There were like 4 or 5 *legitimate* discussions that were merged on here that were good topics/discussions/debates.

But the bottom line is, nobody wants to read through 9 pages of garbages. So most people just dont look.

It is ruining topic discussions.
