I like colin kerpatrik better in the 2nd round. I really hope the trade down and grab Colin in the 2nd. But Mallets upside is too good to pass at 15. They need to have a long conversation with him. If he is coachable and will give 100% , he can be a monster.
I mean we will be drafting at least one LB. With so much of the same mold around the middle of the draft, why not send a HUGE smoke screen saying we are looking hard at RB, and QB to make other team's pull the trigger, when in reallity we are looking at OLB, or ILB as our first pick, where the talent level drops off pretty far after the second round this year.
Well according to some on here, this is just the rambling's of the "village idiot".
Why? They look to be decent picks, but I want a guy, who has A BUNCH OF COMEBACK WINS!!! Brains, and a national title.
Hey I guess in two years, we will see who has the more natural ability to judge good QB's, yeah I blew it with White, but I wanted him as a wildcat only QB, not as our incumbent starter.
All I am saying is I want Thigpen to ride us this year, bring in Mclroy, and drop Henne next year, pending on our record, and how Thigpen does, then go after Luck next year.
I'm telling ya Mclroy has solid stats, show's the mental tuffness with his remarks to other's, he basically said " I guess I don't have the ceiling Cam Newton has" of course being sarcastic, but a MUCH MUCH less of a risk of drafting in the mid to late rounds rather than putting EVERYTHING we got on a QB that is so iffy.
I don't think Gabbert, Mallett, Newton have superstar written all over them.
They might, but I would much rather see us go after Luck next year.
I'm not truly a student of the draft and even less this year. So, I find it difficult to answer the question if I were the decision maker. However, from what I have read so far, I would base my decision primarily on whether I thought he had what it takes mentally. Apparently his passing skills are unquestionably legit. I personally favor a more mobile QB, but Flacco, Brady, Manning are proof enough for me that great athleticism are not prerequisites. According to the Hyde article, the writer gave a lot of evidence to support his on-field/locker room leadership. So, if I felt he had what it takes between the ears then I could feel good about him @ 15.

RESPONSE: Nahhh. He's number 2 after Gabbert on my board.
I'm officially hanging my hat on Ryan Mallet. If we have an opportunity to draft him and pass, I'm going to consider this draft a bust. If he's taken before #15, then I'll be more open minded.
I don't want this draft to turn into another Fletcher/Brees disaster.
Dont do that, bud. Its way to early to "hang" your hopes on a player who hasnt even stepped on an NFL field. And that goes for any player, not just Mallett.

That would be epic!
I am still very high on Mallett, but I have been breaking down Kaepernick alot over the last 2 weeks and I have soured on him quite a bit.
Most of Kaepernick's highlights show him running, not passing. He reminds me of a bigger Pat White.
