Watching Welker yesterday afternoon, I couldn't recall who we selected for the slots we got from NE. We got a 2nd and 7th Rd pick in the draft. What players were selected with those picks? Anyone remember? Thanks.

I think we got Samson Satele with the second rounder - not sure of the 7th rounder tbh

It was Samson Satele and DE/OLB Abraham Wright.

I think it's important to remember we had no choice in the matter. Welker was a restricted free agent with a 2nd round tender on him, which guaranteed him $1.8M from us. The Pats signed him to an offer sheet with a "poison pill" clause that made the deal worth $36M if he played more than 4 games in the state of Florida. We couldn't match it. And the league was frowning on this type of activity, so they got the Pats to throw in a 7th rounder in addition to the 2nd rounder they were required to give up.

Okay--thanks for the information. Too bad Satele didn't pan out for us. He's snapping for the Raiders.

our biggest mistake was not giving him a first round tender. would have cost only a few hundred thousand more. typcial shortsighted FO move.

And, ironically, we could use him right now. I'm tired of the FO's knee-jerk reactions and their penchant for getting rid of players because they SHOULD BE starters but were beaten out. Whatever happened to depth!!??
