Dan Persa the same type of player and completely overlooked by the major powerhouse football schools. Tyler might be unorthodox however he can play the position, and he is very athletic. I think he will provide a spark that we need and this might payoff for him with another starting gig if we want Henne to remain our long term answer at QB. Time will tell but if I were coach Sparano Thigpen wouldn't be going anywhere at the end of this season especially if he performs like we think he can.

He reminds me of Romo.


Not sure if that is a good or bad thing though.

Thats pretty much who Sparano compared him to today in his PC. HE basicly said Thigpen is the gunslinger type, who likes to extend the plays by moving out of the pocket, and also has the ability to run. He was asked if the gunslinger attribute scared him, He said , no.

Keeping in mind that the Young Steve Young was on some horrible teams in his first couple seasons with the Bucs (not entirely his fault, the entire team stunk), I hope he improves quickly.....a lot more quickly than Steve Young himself improved in his youth.

Because if Thiggy is slow to improve, all of you will be calling for his head on a platter, in disregard of the fact that Young took many years to fall into his role as the leader of the championship 49ers team.

Not enough body of work to say he reminds me of anyone yet. What I will say is that his mobility and athleticism give defenses something to prepare for that they don't have to with Chad Henne or Chad Pennington (unfortunately, he'll need plenty of mobility if Long is out). He seems to have adequate arm strength. Hopefully, the coaches won't be trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Try to adjust the offense to Thigpen's talents instead of trying to make him play with the same game plan used for Henne. We shall see. Should make for an interesting Thursday night.

Well, at least no one in their right mind will call for Patrick Ramsey to start... or will they? lol

Let's just hope he plays smart, uses his athleticism to extend plays and chucks the rock with some accuracy.

IMO he is far and away a better looking QB than Henne but regretfully that’s not saying much.

I'm going with Steve Young too. Would be nice if he turns out to be the next Young.

I said Steve Young because of his mobility and improvisational skills as well as his ability to throw with a strong arm. But also because of his penchant for irratic throws and the occasional poor decision making you wonder what he was thinking.

As well as that being around for a few years mostly as a backup just as Young was when he got his big chance and when that chance came it was witha team running a safe system.

A lot will call for his head on a platter but not everyone.

And i meant steve young as far as his mobility.

If Thigpen does well against the Bears (and we win) it will be more difficult for the front office to replace him after Chad Henne recovers from his injury. However, given the fact he came at a real expense, they will replace Thigpen still thinking he is the Dolphin's future at QB.

A mobile QB adds so much more to the team's offense today especially if he can throw the ball too. I compare Thigpen to Tarkenton because that guy drove the defense nuts. He alluded significant injury doing it. When Tarkenton retired he held all key passing records.

He does have a lot of similarities to Romo.

I think Romo is a pretty good QB, so I do view that as potentially a good thing.

Hmmmm Romo isnt bad, but Sparano coached Romo so that is a bit biased.

I would say Jeff Garcia slightly bigger and a tad bit better thrower.
