Lions need help on both lines; offensive and ofenseive. They traded for Rob Simms so that addresses some need on the o-line. Suh is the best d-linemen in this draft and head coach Jim Schwartz is a defensive coach. This is a perfect fit for the Detroit Lions and at the 2nd pick when you get the BEST player in the entire draft you don't pass that up.

With the 5th pick the Kansas City Chiefs select....
Bryan Buluga OT/Iowa
Scott Pioli is making the pick and has been on record for years now saying he doesn't like taking safties early in the draft. Hence no Eric Berry here. Matt Cassel was sacked 42 times last year, they need a franchise left tackle in a bad way. This move pick all the sense in the world

My take is they desperately need a LT and RB as well as a WR. They are running a zone blocking scheme with Gibbs as the line coach so they need an athletic LT and Williams is that with a 4.8 40. If they don't get one here they won't get as good an athlete.
Campbell is athletic but is dropping fast on boards as a potential flop. I don't see Williams projecting as only a RT. Mayock calls him a swing tackle.
Even Charlie Casserly says that Spiller is a complimentary back who will need to go to a team with a big back as the work horse. They have Julius Jones is 5'10 208 as well as an underachieving average back and Justin Forsett who is 5'8 194 so they need a feature back like Ryan Mathews. I think a lot of teams don't value Spiller that high since he is not a 3 down back.

Trying to guess what Al Davis will do is like guessing the weather in Hawaii. Impossible!! Anyway Campbell is a Al guy. Super athletic. 6' 6"....314 lbs. Benced 225lbs 34 times. He is Al's type of guy

With the 11th pick the Denver Broncos select......
Rolando McClain LB/Alabama
Denver has a need for a linebacker after they cut Andra Davis. McClain can step in and start from Day 1. McClain is a little slow, a "system player" in college. And only a 2 down ILB in the NFL, but this is a perfect landing spot for him and it makes sense for Denvedr.
They can fill their WR void in Rd 2 and not have the risk of "Dez Bryant"
With the 14th pick the Seattle Seahawks select......
Dez Bryant WR/Oklahoma St
Seattle takes Spiller at 6 in this draft. They need a left tackle in the worst way possible to replace Walter Jones but they have Dez Bryant (who they consider at 6) fall in their lap here at 14. Seattle was in on Brandon Marshall talks and possibly adding him. They lost Nate Buerlson via FA. They need a young WR to grow with their new QB Whitehurst. And Seattle can wait on an o-linemen here. Their o-line coach Gibbs has done miracles with late round picks anyway. So they grab Dez at 14

With the 17th pick the San Francisco 49ers select.....
Anthony Davis OT/Rutgers
Davis was a Top 10 pick in January. But when you show up to the combine overweight and out of shape then give 20+ crappy interviews to damn near every team in the league, you drop faster than panties on prom night! The 49ers have a HUGE void at RT. They need to fill that void in Rd 1. Singeltary is a hard-ass coach who will think he can break Anthony Davis down and build him back up and beat work ethic and disipline into him.
With the 20th pick the Houston Texans select......
Ryan Mathewes RB/Fresno St
Ryan Mathewes fits in Houston's zone blocking scheme and some consider him the best true RB in the draft. Slaton was a major dissapointment last year for the Texans. And Kubiak is an offensive coach at heart, he would love to have a true #1 RB and this guy fits the bill.

With the 23rd pick the Green Bay Packers select.....
Charles Brown OT/USC
The Packers o-line is maybe the worst in the NFL. Aaron Rodgers is getting abused week in and week out. They need to fix it. This pick goes a long way in doing so
With the 26th pick the Arizona Cardinals select.....
Rodger Safford OT/Indiana
The Cardinals need tackle help in a bad way. The run on tackles on this draft is amazing in Rd 1. and Safford is the next best one on the board. Arizona grabs him here.

The Jets have had a very active offseason where they have filled all of holes. Nobody they pick here is cracking their starting 22. Rex being a defensive coach will lean towards defense here and pull Tanenbaum along with him. The weakest area on their team currently is no depth at CB. So they will look to add a 3rd corner here to go with Revis and Cromartie. Throw in the Jets are trying to sell PSL's and tickets, drafting a local kid makes sense. Throw in Rex loves to be loved by the fans, drafting a local kid makes this a no-brainer. The Rutgers corner is the pick at 29.
With the 32nd and FINAL pick of the first round the New Orleans Saints select.......
Jerry Hughes DE/OLB TCU
Saints need a pass rusher in a bad way. They get a good one here. Scott Fujita left N.O. for Cleveland so they have a void to fill. Saints need a strong side linebacker and a defensive end, and Hughes can play both! Hughes is a versitile player who can help New Orleans in many ways on defense

OK this is our day 2 of the draft. Gone are the shirt and tie and on with the golf shorts and hawaiian shirts with Buttercup walking on the table...lol
Anyway, with the 35th pick of the draft the Tampa Bay selects....
Golden Tate WR/Notre Dame
Antonio Bryant is gone via free agency. The run on WR's is about to start in this draft and Tampa can't be left out. This team is just god awful on offense with no playmakers. Tate had an awesome combine. He will be the home run hitter on Tampa's offense!
Mike Holmgren will do back-flips if the draft falls this way for him. Being able to get the QB he wants in Rd 2 and not having to trade up to get him. Browns have Senneca Wallace and Jake Dellhome as their QB's. They need their QB of the future. Colt fits that bill. Holmgren is a QB guy by nature took a flyer on Farve and Hasselbeck when their original teams didn't want them. Here he takes the 4th QB in this draft but many think he is just as good as any of the QB's in this draft. Getting him at 38 is a steal for the Brownies!
