Speak for yourself. If we don't make it out of the wildcard round I consider the season failure.

For the record, I expect the Dolphins to HOST the AFC championship game this year. Based on them beating the Jets twice, and having the Colts and Saints on the ropes, I expect nothing less...

Anything else is a failure in my estimation.

so how bad does it have to be next year for you guys to want to see the coaches and front office fired??

And don't say 1-15 that isn't realistic. What, 5 wins? 6 wins? 7 wins?

And no injury excuses either....how many wins and you say enough they gotta go

Interesting that the only alternative mentioned for some of the not getting it done issues is firing the staff.

How do coaching teams get out of a rut, or a state where talent / performance is seemingly weaker than desired.

I'm looking to see this staff focus more on internal development where gaps can not be filled via free agency or the draft.

I simply can not believe a guy with Ginn's natural gifts can not be made better.

Look what was has been done with track stars that became football greats without the college background (Hayes comes to mind with Dallas)

What job can you produce diminishing results for 3 years and keep your job?

of course they gotta get fired. This is big business. You got 70,000+ people spending BIG MONEY on tickets. If you send the message that its ok to lose and have a worse record year after year and nothnig will change, your business will hurt. People stop showing up! There is only 1 alternative. FIRE EVERYBODY! And start over

I'd love to do that for Congress, but I'm getting a little tired of the Dolphin's organization cleaning house. I know Wanny did significant damage, but since then we haven't had the same coach for 3 solid years. Even if we don't improve next year, I'm not ready to throw in the towel. Not yet.

I think Parcells cut in front of Mike in a buffet line before.

Some peoples view of reality is so skeweed that its ridiculous. To want to fire Bill Parcells after 3 years of rebuilding the worst franchise, and when I mean worst, I'm talking from players, coaching staff and entire front office up, is one of the most ridiculous ideas in the entire history of humans.

This was a 4-5 year project Parcells took over due to how depleted our *ORGANIZATION* was, not a 1 or 2 year.

ha, fact is this is a results oriented league. The "days of a 5 year plan" are dead and burried. Teams go from worst to first overnight. Teams can get good in 2 years. The days of building towards the draft and it taking forever to get good in this league are over.

Baltimore has done it overnight. New Orleans has done it overnight. The Jets are doing it overnight. You can get good really fast in this league and sustain it.

Baltimore and the jests had a decent foundation of players, also they had great front offices, all they needed was a few holes filled, mainly they needed a QB, they got them, now they are fine.

All we needed when Parcells took over was....EVERYTHING!!

We were so depleted from top to bottom that it was shameful.

Baltimore has had one of the top defenses in the league for what seems like forever. They maintained their defense and built up their offense over time. That's hardly overnight.

The Saints signed Brees and drafted Reggie Bush in 2006!! Overnight? Nope. It took time.

The jury is still out on that, but they've actually been building up for a couple years now. Remember their QB 2 seasons ago? I'll give you a hint. He lost in the NFC championship last season.

We disagree on this.Miami's cupboard wasn't totaly empty. We have a lot of guys still on this team from teh 1-15 team. Ronnie, Ricky, Will Allen, Crowder, Fields, Bell, Ginn, Camarillo, Vernon..etc Lots of guys who our are foundation on this team were here on the 1-15 team.

The worst to first scenario is very hard to achieve. Technically the Dolphins are the only team that did it in 2008. Baltimore and Atlanta finished 2nd in their divisions that year to Pit and Carolina.

All three teams regressed a bit in 2009. Atlanta and Baltimore finished the regular season at 9-7 and did not have near the injury problems we did.

Baltimore has been more successful in the playoffs but they had a better/bigger core group to start with.

Without the injuries, we would have definitely won at least 2 more games and would have had the same record and not be having this discussion.

I think we will be fine in 2010 and be a playoff contender.

Starting over again with a new GM and coach is not something I want to do already. Roster turnover, new offense, new defense...no thanks.

Sure we can bring in a Marty Shottenheimer, Bill Cowher or Jon Gruden, who I like as coaches but there is not a better or comparable GM out there than Bill Parcels. Ron Wolf or Bill Walsh may qualify but I don't see them coming back....Besides Sparano is a good coach.

We were spoiled by a remarkable season in 08 and let down by an injury plagued season in 09.

Quality wise, given the circumstances, we were more like an 8-8 team in 08 and 9-7 team in 09. This year we should be a legitimate 10-6 team.

3 years in the same system & building chemistry is also a plus. Sure we have a new DC but it is still a 3-4 defense.

We have found great quality in the past two drafts/off-seasons. There is no reason to believe we won't get more this year....

Starks, Grove, Polite, Garner, Wake, Penni, Bess in FA
Henne, Long, Smith, Thomas, Davis, Langford, Hartline & Merling in the draft

That's over half of the starters in new arrivals in two years right there to add with the incumbent starters.

Add Incognito & Dansby and the 2010 draft to fill out the rest.

We are only 3 or 4 players short from having a complete, quality, starting roster in 2010. We add depth and fill in the FA blanks next year.

This staff isn't going anywhere.

Also I just did a quick scan of the rosters, there are 14 holdovers from when Parcells took over and about 5/6 of those are starters. Thats a pretty big turnover if you ask me.

I don't know, past experience shows-from the beginning of this league right up till now-see "Sean Payton"-it is crystal clear.

What's that got to do with this regime? This will be their third year-and, as we all know, the first was 11-5 and the AFC East crown. That makes one losing season in a row. Are you assuming that next season and the one after that will be losing seasons?

Odenn, if John Gruden was a top 10 coach people would be lined up for this guy. His only rumored job has been the University of Tennessee, pretty big drop off from the NFL, bud.

I dont care where you live at, Tampa or Kookamonga, I would take Parcells over Gruden anyday.

I thought for sure Gruden was going to ND, I have nothing against him, I just think it's way to early for another regime change

Gruden turned down Buffalo.

Gruden had Louisville, Tenn, USC, ND and about 4 other college jobs offered to him. He turned them all down. He wants the right NFL job.

Gruden will end up in the NFL next year. Look at Dallas as a possibility

Gruden is a very good coach. Senior partner at my firm had dinner with him and said he was a complete ass but he is a good coach as long as you have a good GM in place. He will just stock pile QB's.

Taken with a grain of salt as the senior partner is a bit of an ass as well.

USC never offered him the job, Tennessee didn't offer him it either, and least not this past year. Not sure about Buffalo or the others.
