Another Chris Grier Fun Fact

I still recoil at the thought of choosing Tua over Justin Herbert.

But if that wasn't bad enough, yesterday I realized that Grier didn't just stop there with his wretched 2020 1st round picks.

We're now confirming that Noah Igbinogohne is a complete bust, right? Not even making the active roster.

Then yesterday watching the Dallas/Carolina game, I heard that Trevon Diggs was taken by the Cowboys in the 2020 2nd ROUND!

So, you mean to tell me that Chris Grier passed on Trevon Diggs in favor of Noah Igbinogohne??!!

My conclusion: Chris Grier is, and has been a double agent for the New England Patriots!!
He's gotta be, no one can be this stupid!! It's impossible!

I rest my case!!

Grier needs to he fired immediately, I am in favor of replacing Flores with Pederson now

Clear out the OC debacle

Scott Fitter, John Dorsey for GM, someone that can evaluate talent that Grier cannot

Two years in a row of having the draft position and the amount of picks that would have made other teams in the NFL a playoff contender. There's no excuse for this kind of failure. None.

I think every team would love the opportunity to redraft every year so they could maximize every pick. And, I think (but am not 100% certain) that Grier has underperformed recently relative to his peers.

Here's an example why I don't know for certain that he has: Our LT Jackson looked like a decent rookie LT with much room to grow (i.e. high ceiling) when there were serviceable veterans at LG & C. Now, there's 2nd-year Kindley at LG, having played RG last year. Co-OCs and a rookie OL coach. He's whiffing on all kinds of blocks. I'm not saying he is or ever was destined to become a top 10 LT for the next decade, but players generally don't change so dramatically for the worse overnight because of their talent.

If he was the only one, I'd think "well, maybe he somehow did". But it's like the whole team isn't playing up to their talent level.

IMO, part of the OL problem(s) is that there is no continuity on the line. I understand Grier wanting to get these guys familiar with all the line positions, but settle on one line, and keep it there. Stop having one guy play LT, then the next week move him to RG. This line will never grow to be solid.

I agree, but I guess I'm hoping that it's not Grier who's making the call on where players line up. It could be that - in collaboration w/Flores and his offensive coaching staff - Grier's putting a premium on OL position flexibility when he evaluates draft prospects and FAs.

I understand that positional flexibility is a good thing...I just don't think it's as good as finding the right primary fit for each member of the OL and building continuity. So, my thought is that the coaching staff has been the primary culprit on the OL's struggles given its makeup (young/inexperienced).

It's like somehow the brain trust has looked at the NE model which may include putting a premium on OL positional flexibility, but have forgotten that they don't have Brady & McDaniels and some obscure OL guru (can't remember who he is, but remember him getting some props I believe from Belicheck). They were in a phase of maturity in which they could play Eli Whitney on the OL and reduce their dependence on large capital investments in talent there without significantly negatively impacting performance. We're not nearly there on the offensive side of the ball, so we've got to be smart enough to recognize that and prioritize the things that will most positively impact current performance and set us up for development & maturity.

The oline struggles so much that they get changed around to see if they are better at other position. Thats my take.

Here's another fun fact. This weekend we play the Bucks, NE plays Houston and, the Jest plays Atlanta, another powerhouse. Come Monday the Miami Dolphins may be in the cellar of the AFC East.confused smiley

Hooligan--your speculation may be accurate.

Tampa is far better than I expected this year; the Dolphins are much worse than expected as we all hoped the team would be building upon last year's effort. Not so.

Realistically, Tampa will out-distance us on the score board. We have no offense to stay in the game.

I will record the game and watch it without commercials and breaks later that day as I've agreed to help one of my sons cut back vines encroaching on his back yard fence. Finding something else to do during the game is a pathetic example of my personal frustration with the Dolphins.

Geez, I feel like an old codger with nothing special to talk about in an exciting way. It's become "oh- hum" the Dolphins are back to ground zero again. The franchise seems to be doing the same thing over and over and expecting a better result. We've changed coaches how many times, same with assistants, players are drafted and all have expectations of developing and making the team a contender. Players are cut, traded and change occurs and after try to take two steps forward, we wind up taking two steps backward. The ultimate common denominator is? Give up? Ross. Is he the governor on making the team competitive? Ross hires the key personnel to run the franchise, so he is ultimately responsible for its failure. On paper, some personnel decisions on hiring were okay. Flores seemed to be in that category. Grier? Probably a bad choice. Too, too many bad decisions at all levels seem to plaque this franchise.

With as much as a train wreck this season is becoming I am reduced to hoping SF looses all their games so we get a better pick in the first round.

I think Coach Flo is a good coach but some of the other coaches should be coaching midget and mite leagues.

Flo stinks because his assistants stink. There is not a solid NFL coach on his staff. The oline has problems because Jeanpierre has only 3 years experience as an OL coach and 2 of those he was an assistant.

This will get worse before it gets better Grier can bring in whoever and this coaching staff will scerw it up.

The only way we could lose the Colts game was if our coaches screwed things up and they did.

Grier should be fired for bringing in Flores and assembling a staff like this. If I interviewed a HC candidate I would ask him to name his coordinators and oline coach. I would then have him call them up and and I would ask them are they ready to play for this guy. If I did not like the names I would not hire they guy.

This week Bruce Arian's staff (Leftwich, Bowles, Christensen et al) are going to tear these idiots a new one.

A great coaching staff can make an average team so much better. But a crap coaching staff can make a good team real bad.

Ross stated recently he will "never" sell the Dolphins. He did sell 49% to his friend and business partner who will buy the rest when Ross visits Don Schuler one day. So we are stuck with him . He's a good owner from the spending Money perspective. He just built the team a state of the art work facility. He spends money out of his pocket for stadium upgrades , you name it. But.....hes not a football guy. Hes a developer and loves other rich and famous elites. He tries to hire the best. But doesn't seem like a great talent evaluator for this sport.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!
