By now, we should be starting to look forward to the opening of training camp (whaddya mean, they don't call it that anymore?!) but this year, who knows what's going to happen?
There are two things that are really bugging me this year:
1. Why can't anybody- not a single commentator, local or national- pronounce Tagovailoa's name correctly? there is no "u" or "n" in his name anywhere. I am so far not a fan of the guy, but I can at least pronounce his name. That is a commentator's job, but none of them can do it. What does that say about them?
and 2. I'm glad that my team is getting some attention nationally for a change, but arguing that Tua is better than this QB or that QB is totally ridiculous- the kid hasn't played a down in the league yet, so what are they using as a measuring stick? His college career? Get real.

I'm not trying to be funny, but there's a letter "g" in there. It's the third letter of his last name. I'm also pretty sure there's a 'g' in the long-form of his first name.
Having said that, I'm quite sure I'm also no good at pronouncing his name. But I'm looking forward to practicing!
I'm looking forward to training camp.so many new faces. So many additions, I'm really excited about the addition of RB Matt Bredia. If we can get him a few holes with a new Oline it will change everything. I'm really hoping we dont see TUA to next season. But if he comes out and earns the starting job, I'll be behind him 100%.
Quite right, JC, I made a silly mistake- that "g" should have been a "n" and I have edited it to say so. Thanks. (Lack of careful proofreading, I suppose.)

I actually saw a phonetic guide on how to pronounce his name (this was after writing my last wiseass post) and I honestly think I recall it saying it DID get pronounced with an "n" sound.
**Found it...it's the Wikipedia page on him. I'm not saying that wikipedia is right, btw. it's a glorified message board.
But once again, I hope I hear that name in highlight films pronounced over, and over again!!

Consider it the opposite of a Led Zeppelin reference.
There's an old song which, unfortunately, I remembered when seeing Tua's name in print.
In the lyrics contain the phrase "too-ra loo-ra loo-ra" which somehow I associated with "Tua" and I am being punished for remembering this. Good lord make it stop lol

That song goes through my head (at least the title) every time I hear Tua.
Funny I'm more excited about the (hopefully) improved defense. I'm a defensive lover of the game and really excited about hopefully having one of if not THE best back fields in the game. That could have a huge effect on how teams game plan us.

Its what I always tried explaining to you ....Takes a team. If Marino or Tannehill last year had better defenses they would have been Superbowl Champions. Teams that played them did.

Didnt Marino Score? I believe he did. But when your opponent is Outscoring you no matter how many points you put up you also dont win.

What are you gonna do if we play KC and Mahomes?
82 and 83 we had a good enough defense to make it to the Superbowl. But The 49ers and Montana had Prision sex with them.
You can have one of the best in the league. In History. There is always an Elway , a Montana , a Brady to force feed you his Johnson. Burrows will have a break out season, still got 5-6 elite QB's on other teams. Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees , Lamar Jackson, Russell Wilson , Ryan Tannehill, Mahommes........You better stop them or you will relive 1983' like ground hogs day.
Sorry. Like it or not. He had the highest QB % in the NFL last year and is listed in every Top Ten QB list.Hes one of the highest paid and considered elite.
All he needs is a better DEFENSE to be a true Super bowl contender.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
So.....maybe the QB isnt the most important position? sam.....please make up your mind. Cant have it both ways.

Strange.......your the one that keeps bringing up Ryan Tannehill. Not me. But Tannehill did win. In fact he beat Mahommes and the Chiefs just before the AFC Championship. But HIS DEFENSE let him down in the 4th QTR.
Getting back to the original discussion....Do you want to win the Superbowl? Or do you just live for the draft every April? I'm a Superbowl person myself. Both my boys have never ever seen a winning Miami Dolphins team.
Say TUA is the BEST QB ever. And I'm pulling for him believe me.
Say he breaks every record and becomes the NFL's Numero UNO.......
How do we beat Mahonnes and the Chiefs? 1 word. DEFENSE. Ask Marino. He wishes he could do it all over again and give up some of those passing records for a ring. Run the Ball, control the Clock and DEFENSE wins games. Yeah a great QB helps. But its been done with some pretty mediocre game Managers. Ask Nick Foles a 3rd round pick who was the Eagles back up QB in 2017 when they won the SB.
Takes a TEAM. Not a 1st round QB. A TEAM. Lets hope we have both soon.
GO DOLPHINS!!!!
