What's going on?

I'm completely confused. I thought I knew what my team was going to do and why they were doing it. I hated the idea, but I understood it. It's not in my DNA to accept losing, not for any reason, not ever. I consoled myself with the thought that this year would be all about developing young players so that they would provide an experienced core group to support the influx of new talent coming in from the next two draft classes. I thought that they would play smart, hardnosed football but would usually lose to more experienced, better balanced teams. Now, I don't know what's going on. Trading away young talent like Tunsil and now they're talking about trading away Minkah. So, instead of developing our promising younger players we're trading them away. Now, we are going to have to use some of our many draft picks to replace these promising kids instead of supplementing them. We still have plenty of time to develop promising kids, but only if we don't trade them all away, and maybe play them in the positions where they have demonstrated ability instead of moving them around in the name of 'versatility'. This doesn't strike me as 'smart football'. I have been behind Flores and Greer up to this point, but I'm beginning to get pretty nervous about this whole thing. I knew we wouldn't be good early, but I expected us to improve steadily as the year progressed. I expected us to compete, always. That IS still a possibility, but I'm not as grumpily accepting anymore. I still hate the very concept of 'tanking'.

""Trading away young talent like Tunsil and now they're talking about trading away Minkah. So, instead of developing our promising younger players.........""

The Dolphins didnt plan on trading either. The Tunsil deal was just too good to pass up. Absolutely fantastic trade.

As far as Minkah goes......its not the Dolphins trying to trade him. Hes not happy and hes demanding it. Hes frustrated and embarrassed. Our Team is at such a crossroads that no 1 player really matters at this point. Not happy? If the Cowboys want to pay up.....so be it. Go be a Cowgirl.

We wont suck Anyless, and we can only get better.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

This is the new age modern athlete. If it's too hard, cry and have your mommy take to twitter until you get your way.

Minkah got benched week 1 because he was horrible and now is blaming the scheme.

Its easy to simplify things. Minkah is right. Scheming was terrible on D last week any one can see that. We have 4-3 players in a 3-4 front 7. 1 olb and a 4-3 mlb manning the 2-ilb, 2 olb playing in this scheme for the first time and a cb at fs. Minka of course doesn't know what the hell he should be doing in this crap. Coming out of Bama where Saban knows what the hell he is doing is better than what the phins have going on right now.Minkah is a smart player and knows when things are not right. Put the guy in a position where he can succeed and lead. They drafted him because of his leadership qualities now he is a malcontent?? I don't think so.

Our current 3-4 defense cannot defend crap right now. Godchaux cannot handle the double teaming the guards are going to get after the smaller ilb Baker and McMillian is to slow to pursue. Teams are going to run at them all day. All my opinion after just 1 (terrible) game but I do not blame Minkah. Players like him are masters at their craft they do not like b/s. They want to succeed. He is young and maybe he will calm down and want to stay but if he goes he goes.

Every single player that does not want to be here right now should be traded. They will only hurt us in the long run with negativity.Fitzpztrick, Jones, etc...get rid of them all unless they shut up and play.

Shame but just the way the near future is going to go.

Guys are pissed and confused. The young guys like Fitzpatrick probably have the feeling that I did not sign up for this &*##. Veterans like Jones are seeing the end of the total where they are not going to the big game. Lots of feelings to sort thru and digest in that locker room. Coaches and what few veterans we have left will have to provide some leadership to calm things guys and get these guys focused on the future. You send everyone out the door you will have no foundation players to build upon. We might have 2 foundation players on D (Edwards and Baker) and Im not sure if we have 1 established foundation player on O (I see Davis and Kilgore as serviceable).

The one guy that should NEVER have been traded was Landry. Could you see him crying and complaining? He would be pumping every one up. But what's done is done. I agree. You cant take it when we are in the basement? GO! You dont deserve to celebrate when we are on top once again!

Throwbacks today!!!! Watch the magic of the old logo!! Go Dolphins!!!

Judging by his assignment today and the lack of success the Patsies had deep, maybe he was right.

"At least some porn company didnt try to rename Hard Rock Stadium..... Bang Bros.com stadium like the Heat..."

Considering what the team is doing to us fans, that might almost be appriopriate.

********************************************************

Dolphan4545: it is early in the season; OL is in a constant shuffle; coaches don't have a real good idea who will be starting on the OLine (besides Kilgore, and maybe Davis).

Hopefully, what we are seeing right now, we will not be seeing late in the season. Am I saying they will be winning...no, but they should be improving by then. They need to get settled ALL the positions, that's how they will improve.

Next season will also be a work in progress, but for the first time in Dolphins' history, Miami has a shot at drafting quite a few blue chippers. We can only hope Grier, et al, get it right.

Three first rounders and two second rounders? Woah!

Here is my perspective. If you look back on last season in our 7 wins we won each by 8 points or less (basically one score). In our 9 losses we lost 8 of 9 by more than 10 points. If we had any bad luck or one play went differently we could have lost every game last year. We were bad then. Now, take away a few good players and we become so bad everyone can see. It is no longer a difference of one or two plays, there is a big gap.

That being said I am tired of people saying we are tanking. NO! If anything we tanked. (past tense) Our players and coaches are trying to win and are preparing each week. We just don't have the skill to win.

I would rather be awful this year and try to right the ship; then do what we have done for many years now. The draft and the salary cap situation should help get better players. I would rather have the ones who want to lay than the ones that are only out for themselves. I liked Fitzpatrick, but he wanted out. Better to get something for him then let him become a cancer. Or turn into a player who is on the field but does not give his best effort.

We never should have beaten the Bears or the Patriots last year. Our record did not have solid foundation - smoke and mirrors

I agree. I was at the Bears game and it was the most exciting game though. The Miami miracle.......moments like that keep you going through the bad times. I dont see anything good happening this season. Even during 2007 when we went 1-15 , Jason Tayler brought us a great win. We have no stand out players. No leaders. Hopefully that will all change next 2 drafts.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Can anyone explain to me why the media is so upset with Miami for "tanking"? When no one was upset that so many NBA teams tanked their seasons for so many years they had to institute the draft lottery to combat this practice.

Nobody was upset with the colts for tanking or sucking for luck.

We are the complete opposite of that.

Maybe this nightmare will cease when we start making the playoffs again.
