At least Miami once again proved all the prognosticators and the betting world wrong...we are not tanking the "season"...we will be tanking on a week to week basis.
I fully expected a really ugly season & the start of it exceeded my expectations. Only reward for the worst record in 2019 is the #1 pick in 2020, but my question is will Grier draft the right player in the 1st round along with all the other picks this team has accumulated.
As for the current player revolt rumor and trade requests - It's funny that these players seem suddenly concerned about winning instead of collecting a paycheck. Being on a bottom dweller team hasn't been a concern for them all these years until now and I'd like to know why.
If they had the patience that the fans have they'd be loyal enough for me to believe that they understand what it takes to rebuild & succeed in the future.
"but my question is will Grier draft the right player in the 1st round along with all the other picks this team has accumulated."
That's the million dollar question. Minkah looked horrible yesterday (along with everyone else). Charles Harris is a bust. Parker, albeit having a couple of nice catches yesterday, has proven to not be worthy of a first round pick. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Grier has been with the Dolphins for 20 years. He's been a scout and ultimately became GM. He's part of the reason why they're in the hole they're in. Since it seems Tua is the target, I just hope he's the second coming of Dan Marino.
What if we do stink as much as they showed yesterday, we draft Tua and he pulls an Elway/Baltimore or Eli Manning/Chargers and says nope, not playing for them?

It's a possibility. I'd say they need to determine that before they pull the trigger on the pick.
Its going to be ugly all year. Will be hard for an oline that has 2 starters (and 2 second stringers) who were not on the preseason roster to develop any sense of cohesion this season while getting the hell kicked out of them. This Oline may not gel at all this season. We tried to run a 3/4 with 4/3 assets. Really don't see why so many fans are surprised that we got a butts kicked. We are rebuilding this is what happens.

I have to disagree a little. Yes, I knew that this team was built (or dismantled) to lose. I get the tanking plan but what we saw yesterday wasn't just a loss. It was a squashing the likes of which I haven't seen in a very long time. The biggest concern for me is that they never competed. This game was over from the beginning. There was never a second where I thought they could stop Baltimore. I would expect a division one college team to do no worse (some would do better) It's one thing to tank, but it's an entirely different thing to embarrass your franchise. It was a humiliating loss and will have far reaching implications if they replicate this performance over and over again.
What did you expect? Did you really expect that an oline starting a guard at LT, a rookie and 2 guys that did not even suit up for us in preseason would open massive holes? A bunch of first and second year players learning a new defense would play like the second coming of the killer bee's? Equavoen was an all pro? Fitz would turn into Aaron Rodgers? We would not miss our best WR. Reality just sunk in. We stink, real bad. Nothings going to change that this season. This is what a 0-16 team looks like. Yes we look worse than the 1-15 We just cleaned house. Wake, Alonzo, Stills, Tannehill James and all of those other players who we cheered on that kept us in mediocrity are gone.Good riddance.
This team is worse than the 1-15 team. I am ok with it we are rebuilding. No false dreams here.
How bad is this team. If you remember Jimmy Johnson's 1989 Cowboys that went 1-15. That team had Aikman, Moose Johnson, Nate Newton, Rafferty, Stepnowski Eveson Walls and others. They still went 1-15. We are not even close to having talent like that on our squad. We are worse.
I remember the second Giants game from that season. NY won putting the Cowboys at 1-14(??). JJ was walking dejectedly off the field. Parcells yelled at him over the crowd and actually got his attention, Parcells then pointed at his chin and mouthed 'keep your chin up'.
That's what the Phins coaches, front office and players have to remember. Fans and press are gonna take their craps on them but that locker room and org have to practice and play hard for 16 weeks this season and keep their chins up.

I'm not arguing that this is a terrible roster. Of course it is. They purposely made it this way because they believe, right or wrong, that Tua will come out, and will be a franchise QB. My only concern is that you still have to have the organization in place to make the right draft choices. If you don't, tanking the season away gains you nothing. I'd feel a whole lot better if Grier hadn't used first round picks on Harris and Parker (and maybe Minkah). It doesn't instill a bunch of confidence in his judgment.
Im not buying the tanking for Tua crap. This is a rebuild screw the tanking crap. If we grab Tua fine we will see what happens next spring. Im ok w/ Grier. Harris does stink but no one said he stunk coming out of college. Parker has stats, always have said that. Out of the 6 receivers picked in his drafts first round only 1 has more receiving yards 2 have more TDs. We stunk as a team it went beyond those 2. Both would be better off on another team. Minka is a keeper. I still don't know what the heck Flores is doing on defense and playing McCain at fs. Actually it appears that Flores is trying out his 3/4. Its ugly because he does not have the personal. Godchaux is not a NT, Wilkens at end Baker at ilb. Everyone looked confused as heck on Sunday.

Parker had some nice catches on Sunday but his overall body of work with Miami doesn't in any way, shape, or form make him worthy of a first round pick. No how, no way. If he stays healthy this year, plays well throughout, I'll be happy to say maybe he's turned it around. I'm not holding my breath, though.

Bottom line Parker's stats say he was worth the pick and that is comparing them to his constituents. It just doesn't make sense to say otherwise, I am not necessarily a Parker fan. He doesn't suck more than most of the player's we bought in and guys like Alonzo were paid more than him.

Everyone needs to get off Tua's jock for a minute, PLEASE!!
He's really not THAT great. I'd actually take Fromm over him at the next level.
We've got to come away with 2 young, immediate starters along the
O-line. One of them needs to be the best LT in the draft.
Take the best QB left on your board with one of the 2nd rd picks.
Someone to develop and back up Rosen if needed.
Rosen needs to be the starter going into next year. Period.
If he's not the franchise guy we need, we will be in optimal position to draft Lawrence in '21.
For Lawrence to have any chance of starting for us in '21, he'll need an ascending OL in front of him. If done right, he should have one.
I NEVER liked Tua. I think hes injury prone and a stretch with the #1 pick.
However. With so many high picks we actually have the luxury of taking a chance on a 1st round derby QB . If our admin determines Tua worth it , so be it. But let's make a good educated pick. We cant afford to waste this opportunity.
