Pick a qb in the first every year.

Pick a qb in the first every year until you pick the right one.

Had we done that before we would had the qb of the future.

Tcpf it doesnt take a rocket scientist to understand that....even you with your diminished football knwledge might understand this.

Look at all the talent we have missed on.

Brees...rodgers......matt ryan....etc etc.

I am confused here, because since 2016 (when most of us wanted to move on to another QB the draft played out this way.

2016 drafted Larry Tunsil (next two QBs picked were Paxton Lynch and Christian Hackenburg)

2017 drafted Charles Harris (next two QB's picked were Deshone Kiser and Davis Webb)

2018 drafted Minkah Fitzpatrick (next two QBs picked were Lamar Jackson and Mason Rudolph)

So if we did as you suggested two of those picks would have sucked and the other has promise but the book is still out on him. In the mean time we would not have a starting tackle nor starting safety. Along with a underachieving but serviceable DE/OLB.

I am all for finding a good QB, but since you usually only carry three QBs on the team, every three years your first round draft pick would definitely not be not be on your team. You still need other talent around them.

I remember when lots of people wanted us to draft Brady Quinn or Johnny Manzel, I am glad we didn't. That being said , even the professionals (Kiper & McShay) have guys on their big board who are busts and guys they rate low but are great players. Its not an exact science but I think with the front office we have now our drafts should get better.

Excellent points Astro.

I garantee the answer from Sam or Chyrene will be silly juvenile and involve Ryan Tannehill in some way. eye rolling smiley

If we kept drafting qbs in the first round we would of had that gem already....

I wanted brees and we didnt get him....I wanted matt ryan and we got tcpfs wish in OL jake long....Wow were we good because of jake long.........We got the wheel when we should of gotten the engine first.

KEEP DRAFTING QBS IN THE FIRST ROUND UNTIL YOU GET ONE...

If they dont work out throw them to the wolves and release or let them go like we did tannehill.

And our front office (and fired head coach) was like Treasure. Not understanding football at all and the importance of the quarterback.

Tannehill was a read option quarterback. He was not a traditional pro set pocket QB. We run a pro set not a read option.

If Tannehill does well, it will be because he will be put in the proper system which will accentuate, not ignore, his skills. We'll see.

But that's what's wrong some people. They can't think their way out of a paper sack. To them, there is only one way to skin a cat. They hate trying something new because they fear the new.

They get mad when the teacher goes past addition and gets to multiplication and division. They get upset. That's Treasure.

Coulda shoulda woulda Sam.

The problem with your theory that I have is this....

There's bound to be years when the 1st round QB draft class sucks. Perfect example is this year - I would rather trade back this year and be able to move up next year in order to draft a 1st round QB without so much bust potential.

Should this team have drafted more QB's in the 1st round over the years prior to Tanne? Absolutely.

Unfortunately when you have a franchise who thought that Chad freaking Henne for example was the answer then your team will be held back for years. Sadly this team has had a history for quite a long time of holding onto mediocre starting QB's for too long. Other teams pick up our previous starters which we finally cast off after forever and use them for backups. It's like they already know something about the skill level of our players which this team refuses to acknowledge sooner rather than later. Total make ass as a Dolphins fan for sure.

I don't NESSARILY disagree 808. But look at the word NESSARILY. We got Woodley and then Marino in drafts not that far apart. Should we never have drafted Woodley? Easy to say that with 20/20 hindsight.

But you KNOW Tannehill is gone, right??? I mean he was drafted in 2011 and this ain't 2012. Again, we need to do the same thing Shula did. He drafted his Woodley and when he saw he was Woodley, he drafted Marino in a different year.

Treasure wants us to lay down and suck so he can look back fondly on Tannehill.

Lol. We went to the Superbowl in 82 with Woodley. Do you really think Shuls had Marino on his draft board? He fell for whatever reason .

Guess what!? When you have a Superbowl calibur team you dont need much. You can reach some on luxury picks. Marino fell fell fell.....so he grabbed him.

To compare the 82-83 Superbowl Dolphi a to this current mess ....rated #32 team.........well you dont even realize how stupid you sound do you?

When was the last time you watched the Dolphins let alone saw them live?
The Dolphins play in California every couple of yrs.....how could you not want to see them live?

I make sure I get to a game a year. I've stated how the Miami Miracle and the Bears OT win (I was there) meant to me and my boys.

Your statements about me ever wanting them to lose show you as a really sad desperate character that knows Jack shit about the game, and is just not man enough to admit it. SAD.

Next year we get a roof and despite the shade.......a lot more sunshine blown up our asses!!!!

OH YEAH... It sounds stupid.....We failed to grab a qb in the first round for 25 years since marino retired and we barely even touched the playoffs for the same 25 years...maybe even more

we did Like you wanted trying to fix the Oline and OLine and safeties etc ect position for 25 years and where does it lead us....

If you want stupid try looking in the mirror and see yourself.

What plan is that Sam? I have no power over who we draft. I said get the QB a decent Oline. Get lineman.....but I cant help it if they pick the wrong linemen? Just as picking a QB in the 1st round is a crapshoot.

So explain please what was my grand master plan that failed?

Next year we get a roof and despite the shade.......a lot more sunshine blown up our asses!!!!

Its a simple plan....TRY AND GET THE GREAT QB IN THE DRafT...

KEEP TRYING UNTIL YOU GET HIM.

WHEN YOU GET HIM THEN BUILD AROUND HIM

We have tried forever to draft every other position other than qb in the first round and it hasnt worked.

I understand. On the other board I have stated I don't really like the QBs in the draft this year, but would draft Tyree Jackson in the third and Easton Stick in the 7th. We do need QB's

My thoughts as well astro.

Drafting a QB in the 1st round this year to me is like wasting a 1st round pick.

You need to get the best QB available and if you pass at 13 or trade out, you won't. I tried with more wordd, maybe using less words will do the trick.

It is a statement for the ages and it means that in whatever draft, you get whoever is the best QB in round one unless you already have your first string QB. Nobody is saying draft a QB in the first round every year though so don't come back and say that this is what I am NOW saying with THIS post.

Pretty Sure Sam , your partner in crime has said Exactly that. Are you saying that you dont approve or agree with Sam?

Why cant you give a simple answer? And if you cant......just state that. No crime in not knowing what's coming out of college. But to dare to RIP me at every turn , and not even have the most basic idea of what QB you want is really laughable.

Basically you just want the best QB available. Well what makes a QB the best available? How do you differentiate between a good pick and a bad one? Or can you?

Sad bro. Go take a dump and read more our lads.

Your problem is that you can't figure out that one has to be a fortune teller to REALLY predict the future.

You think Shula would have drafted Woodley if he KNEW things would turn out that way with him??????

A team has to go with the choice they have in the present with the need they have.

You will NEVER acknowledge that the quarterback is the engine to the team, Treasure.

I've thrown out that analogy to you a million times. You have never addressed it. You only basically say that, "Hey first we have to get some sturdy tires to support the car or we have to get a body to surround the engine or..."

Yeah, we need those other things but when our engine blows out, it needs replacing.

Sam is right. You are really in love with Tannehill the man and like any jealous girl, if he's gone, you will fight to preserve his memory.

There is a (weak) possibility that Haskins could fall to 13. I'm not that keen on him, but are the Dolphins?

Anyway, I am hoping Miami can trade back and get more picks. They need them.

OK, Cap. Let me attack trading back on its merits without consideration of QBs.

Our front office has not been that great.

The higher the round is, the more likely the pundits are proven correct about their assessments.

Nothing is 100% of course. But the higher the round, the more likely the prediction is true.

I would rather, if we don't pick a QB at 8, that we DO pick a defensive lineman or offensive lineman at 8 rather than trading away the pick for more lower round picks.

The last thing I would want to do, but that's only me that is, is to trade back into the 3rd round and try to pick one or more linemen, backers, running backs, receivers, whatever there.

Just me.

EXACTLY. There is a good chance that if the QBs drop (Haskins/Lock/Jones) there will be teams willing to give us great value to move up.

This is the mindset I'm trying hard to break you from. First off...Alot of the pundits that place values on these players......You dont think they are not greased by these players agents!? You cant believe everything about these players out of college. You really need to read /watch and form an opinion on these kids.

One other thing........Just because we trade back doesn't mean we dont get a 1st round pick. Most likely we swap 1st rounders and gain extra picks in the lower rounds.

To GIVE up a 1st rounder completely would be expensive. I dont know why you are so caught up in the 1st round drama and Hype? Look back at the many busts from 1st rounders over the years. At the NFL level if a team does their homework we can build a great team from more picks in the lower rounds.

Comes down to each draft. This is a rich draft for Defense early on. So reaching for a Center becuase you need one would be silly.
But trading down and getting 2-3 Lineman in the 2-3-4 rounds.....THATS value and the chances 1-2 will become starters is better.

Next year we get a roof and despite the shade.......a lot more sunshine blown up our asses!!!!
